Fuck the BBC

So, anyone on this side of the Atlantic see "Rogue Traders" on Monday night?

Well guess what? That's the company I work for, being right royally screwed over by the BBC. The program is not a consumer affairs program. It's not serious. It's Tabloid sensationalist gutter-press reporting!

The whole thing was initiated by a guy that got fired from the company contacting the program because he felt he'd been hard-done-by. They then put someone in "under cover" to film secretly. The footage they got, taken totally out of context, is pretty damaging. But let me ask, which of you would want what goes on behind the scenes in your work-place secretly filmed? The ribald jokes, the sexist comments (especially in a single gender office), the totally un-pc crap that is just part of life... then there's the office politics, the back-biting and back-stabbing (that my company doesn't tend to have much of, direct sales is a pure meretocracy!), not to mention all the short-cuts, bad-practices, etc, that go on.

Anyway, the whole thrust of the program was that we rip off old folks. Well we don't. I walk out of more OV leads than, strictly speaking, I should do!

We have a strict policy for dealing with the elderly and vulnerable. Did the BBC report that? NOOOOO! In fact, they admitted that they couldn't fault what we sell, nor our application procedures. There's a good reason for that. We've done work for the BBC!

What they did was go after one guy in particular, one of the branch managers, who basically made a totall dick of himself, got caught on camera boasting about how he ripped off old people. So, they set him up. He was an idiot. We are not supposed to lie. (Well, not about important stuff). He got caught out in two whoppers. He said he was a surveyor and that he was not a salesman. STUUUUUPID!

Anyway, this week, there are basically no leads. Things will improve again, but this week it's a bit bad.

On Monday, I posted a poll, asking people what they think I should do when I formally propose to Connie. Thanks to the 14 people who've already voted. If you haven't yet, and want to, Go here and scroll down a ways.
