Today was the second of two days of inservices at work. Yesterday we spent three hours and bits at Marymoor Park building our team. The usual stuff applied - games to learn facts about people you might not have known, the conflict course to help build trust and listening skills, the "build a structure that will support an egg from breaking upon landing when dropped from a good distance using only fifteen drinking straws and some masking tape" exercise, the exercise that tells about your strengths and credo, etc, etc. After we had a team, we went to Godfather's for buffet (dessert pizza!) and back to work for a big ol' work party. (My room is now clean and our signs are up to date. Can we say the licensor is coming soon, boys and girls?)
Today we had two workshops, one on anti-bias curriculum, the other on encorporating science into the currirculum. We don't have big people chairs enough for all the big people that work there, so there was a lot of complaining by very many bodies after we sat for eight hours. We have a lot of topics to discuss regarding multicultural and anti-bias curriculum, so i forsee several meetings in the future expounding further on the topic. (A great website i need to do more research on is
Roots For Change. Lots of good subject material there.) The science stuff was really interesting, to an extent. The room was hot and we sat for so long that we all got really bored. Oops. By the time we got into more hands on stuff, most of my group was ready to bail. (They weren't even excited to play with materials suitable for making BIG bubbles. i really enjoy bubbles, so i got a bit cranky at the lack of enthusiasm.)
After work i went to Safeway to pick up a few things. Cameron (the bestest customer service clerk EVER) was nice and called Chehalis Qualex customer service to find out where my redos were, since they should have arrived yesterday. They kindly informed him that they should have arrived yesterday. *grin* Shit gets lost ALL the time, so i 'm not surprised, especially since it was a redo. (
silenceleigh, yes, one of the rolls they can't find is of you. i'm going to give them a call tomorrow afternoon and find out where in blazes they are. (Usually stuff is found in the lab, so i'm not too worried.)
After being denied my film, i went to the pharmacy, where i learned that my insurance company has grown wise and will no longer allow me to get multiple month prescriptions for one co-pay. (This isn't a big deal in the case of the famotidine, since it's a generic and only costs $10 a month. This is a problem when it's my Celebrex, which is non-formulary and costs $40 a month. Will have to find the stuff for mail order prescriptions, since i can almost justify $80 for three months. Almost.)
(Insert standard rant about how i'm really annoyed that since Celebrex is a NSAID, Premera seems to think that an acceptable (read: cheaper) solution is to substitue ibuprofen. No, ibuprofen will NOT help with my tendonitis the way Celebrex does. The only thing the ibu will do is make sure i get to take my ulcer meds again. BLARGH.)
(At the same time, i really haven't lost sight of the fact that the same drug would cost me roughly $120 A MONTH if i didn't have insurance. So i bitch, but not too much.)
Farking cat has decided that my teeth are chew toys AGAIN. Wrists have decided that they don't need to work, AGAIN. Still haven't decided what i should eat for dinner. Whee.
