There are two important things to keep in mind when getting your place ready for a Wii party. First, you’ll want to push all furniture out of the way so you have enough space to bowl, hit balls coming at you and flail around as necessary.
Second, you need a viewing area. Half the fun of playing Wii is watching all the virtual Wii-ality and flailing around, so be sure to set up chairs or pillows around the TV where your guests can get a front-row view of all the action.
Wii-related injuries are definitely a party foul. While there’s not much you can do but duck if a Wii-mote goes flying, you can set up a first aid station to take care of any pulled muscles, scrapes, black eyes or bruised egos. Stock your station with ice packs, sports tape, bandages, water bottles, pain medications and heating pads.

Comfortable clothes are key so you have full range of movement. Stick with things like t-shirts, jeans, sneakers-skirts, heels, button-down shirts and jackets will just get in your way.
To really get your game on, go over-the-top with massive amounts of athletic gear, including sweatbands for your wrists and head, knee pads and a baseball cap. Or, if you're playing a particular sport, dress the part: bowling shirts for a bowling game, baseball gear for baseball.
Playing a team tournament? Choose team colors before the party so you can show off your team spirit. Even better, choose team names too and make or buy customized team shirts. Our suggestion for a name: Wii-sels, of course.

Get multiple consoles and host a tournament. Players can compete individually or in teams. Create a scoreboard using poster board or a whiteboard where you can track game players and winners.
After your tournament is over, have guests vote on players' performances in various categories, and then award prizes to the winners.
Some categories to get you started:
• MVP of each game
• best all-around player
• best Wii style
• spazziest moves
• most likely to go through Wii-thdrawal
wii party food ideas
Some Wii food ground rules: nothing too sticky or greasy-you don’t want to wreck your Wii-mote.
Get creative: Serve a culinary homage to your favorite video game characters or games. Stuffed mushrooms and pizza are Mario-appropriate dishes. If you’re being toyed with by crazed rabbits, get your revenge by serving rarebit, aka Welsh rabbit, a delicious snack made with melted cheese on toast. And a baseball tourney screams for popcorn, peanuts and hot dogs.
Bowls of trail mix and energy bars help keep players pumped and at the top of their game. For an added boost, serve a dessert rich with coffee and sugar, like tiramisu, coffee cheesecake or mocha ice cream cake.

• 2 tablespoons lemon-lime soda
• maraschino cherry
Combine whiskey, lemon juice and soda with 3 or 4 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a glass. Garnish with cherry and serve.
