I've been house sitting for my older sister while they're on vacation in Cozumel. Let me tell you, it's been nice.
But I'll never understand people who spend big bucks on home theatre systems and don't take the time to learn how to use them. These people have a 52in flatscreen HD TV that sits on a TV stand. It's a really nice TV stand, but the Bose woofer is sitting on the same stand immediately behind the television wedged against the wall. Among the things electronics don't like, magnetism and vibration are pretty high on the list. It's in the manual. I can only imagine they felt placing the woofer smashed behind the television was more asthetically pleasing than sitting it comfortably and soundly on the floor, behind the stand.
Oh, but it gets better.
It's a five speaker system professionally installed so the wiring is inside the walls and invisible. Funny thing though, the surround sound is turned off. No I don't mean the actual Bose unit was off, but all the settings in the Bose unit were still at their manufacturer defaults. This means that among other things, the surround level and the bass and treble levels were at zero. Yup, those little satellite speakers weren't being used, which I guess doesn't matter, if you never bothered to set your audio levels.
Now I have no problem admitting I am an audiophile, that's why I'm always on the lookout for new sound processing software, but if you don't know Dolby surround from stereophonic, why the hell waste the money.
I guess that's just my biggest pet peeve: People who waste money and natural resources on things they will never fully take advantage of or appreciate in their lifetime.
end trivial semi-rant.
