Well, I was not expecting that to happen. Seems I'm not the only member of the nuts-and-bolts club down here. Except Lopez, but god knows where he is.
Dunno which one of us got the rougher deal. He was probably built in some fancy lab, all the best hardware, pretty much indistinguishable from a regular human, and a nice friendly AI to help him out; and there's me. Any old junk that does the trick, constructed down in Sarge's workshop.
Yeah, he probably got anaesthetic that wasn't a bottle of booze.
But it still sounds like he got some things harder than I did. The thing is, I might be complaining about it here but I'm pretty happy the way I am. But he doesn't seem to have adjusted at all. He hasn't even been told how to adjust, hell, I didn't exactly get much help but he's got nothing. How did they expect him to cope?
When you're a baby, they teach you how to do everything, how to walk and talk and all that crap. When you get through the Spartan process, they give you time to adjust and let you know what's changed. They help you. (Next time I meet someone who calls a regular three a cyborg, I'm gonna have to have words with them.)
But when they rebuild most of your body in machinery, fucking with your senses and the way everything works and giving you a whole load of things you've gotta deal with for the rest of your life, they just expect you to get on with it like you stubbed your toe...
Gonna go do some research later. See if there's anything either of us oughta worry about.
