This is kind of neat.

What's your walk score?

Where I live, it's VERY uphill -- scored a 38.
Where I used to live, there's more flatland and it rated an 80
Where I lived when I was a child is flatland, lots of neighborhoods, rated an 88

My neighborhood's walk score is only 60.

My grandmother didn't even know how to drive.
She walked everywhere...the bank, the druggist,
a couple of grocery stores, and a tiny, old
fashioned department store were all within
walking distance for her. That's probably why
she lived to be 95 and had such great legs!

The only places I can get to by walking are
a hardware store, a pizza place, & a liquor
store...and I never walk to them anyway.

Mine is an 85! I actually love living here. We can walk just a few blocks to the grocery stores, pharmacy, liquor store, stripper clubs, sex toy place, dog grooming place, dog food place, couple of bars, restaurants, small hardware store in like a 5 block radius. The hardware store is actually on the other side of my house and let me tell you--it's totally awesome to have a hardware store like 200 or 100 feet away when you just need one little nail.

(actually we don't go to the strip clubs or frequent the sex toy place but I'm just sayin' that booze, boobs, and food is all just a few short steps out my back door and what else would a red-blooded American need?!?!!)

I don't think it is very good anonymous March 12 2009, 14:49:56 UTC
I live a block from the a 26 mile long flat beach and it gave me a 12 out of 100 -- it is one of the best walking beaches there is!

I think part of what they score is shops and such in your immediate neighborhood, at least that's what i'm seeing with replies on some elists on this. I almost think it was intended to be a "if you didn't have a car" rating more than a walking rating?
