Title: "Motherly Missteps on the Road to Summer"

“Motherly Missteps on the Road to Summer”

I need to tuck the snowman lamp away.  Here it is May and it’s still in my bedroom instead of nestling safely in a box in the garage.  I can’t help thinking that a good mom would have put it away months ago.

Holidays cluster into bunches, orbs of sweetness that cannot be ( Read more... )

My kids' birthdays are November, January and March so I know what you mean!

Holidays ARE more fun when you're the KID. I never realized how much probably went into my parents "pulling things off" every year. I wonder if you can get that "Yea, it's Christmas feeling!" back once you are a grandparent maybe?

::hugs:: At least we are not alone in the trenches eh? And hey, it's summer...ah...a little breath of air here and there.

Awwww. this was kind of sad. I love Summer too, but I also love holidays. Christmas is the only thing that makes winter worth it. It seems like you don't really focus your kids on the things that their getting either, which is good. Gosh... A dozen roses for a little kid on Valentine's day. That's a bit much. Holidays are about so much more than stuff, especially Christmas and Easter. Anyway... I'll save the rant.

There just seems to be a lot of pressure with money at the holidays. I WANT to give a little something to everyone who means something to us but it adds up so fast:(

Maybe I'm not handling the holidays right. This Christmas was my favorite Christmas so far as we had Christmas day with just my kids and spouse, not all the extended family who have opinions and get upset so easy. I wish we could just be us for most holidays.

Hopefully, through the next year, I can "retake" holidays to make them more meaningful instead of just stressful.

Eee, this reads so fluidly. It's like a puzzle and each piece notches into the next and transitions cleanly, and the visuals sort of echo one another.

I'm not a parent, but I'm often around my friend's two and four year olds, so I can only imagine the hyper nonsense. We had an Incident with some of that horrid Easter grass...three hours of them cleaning. Three. Ugh.

Anyway, cute!

I'm so glad you felt if flows. Flow is so important to a piece. I do wonder if I focused too much on the visual sense to the exclusion of the others but at least it worked for you!:)

Did your mom or other women you know deal better with holidays? Any tips? I'm accepting any and all suggestions to be more organized about all this!
