A bit of background for my outburst.
6 months ago: The manager of my QA department sends out an e-mail, asking if anyone would like to help out in the device inventory. DI is the office filled with cell phones that all the departsments of my company use. I volunteer.
5 months ago: I begin working, 2 days a week, in device inventory. I basically manage the inventory, check out phones to the people who need them, activate devices, etc.
4 months ago: After several mistakes by the people working the inventory, I am asked if I want to be the sole day-shift device coordinator. I accept, as I enjoy that over testing.
3 months ago: Our new QA manager decides to combine the day and night shifts. I become the sole device coordinator. Talk is made of the position become a full time, permanent position.
1 month ago: I receive notice that finance has approved the position, and we must now wait for HR to post the position. Then I can submit an application, and interview to keep my job.
10/24/07: HR posts the position. I submit my application.
11/07/07: I interview for said position. I am told by all interviewers that I am the top choice for the position.
11/14/07: The Director of the department calls me to his office. I figure he is about to tell me they are hiring an outside applicant who will do the job for less than I asked. He does not. I am informed that unofficially, the job is mine.
11/15/07: HR contacts me and extends an offer. Said offer is a 50% pay increase, insurance, and other benefits that come from working for a gigantic anthropomorphic mouse.
I say again, "FUCK YEAH!"
Note: Incidentally, today is the one year anniversary of my starting work with this company.
