"Here's the address. You better hurry. Edouard doesn't like to wait."
"Wait, aren't you coming with me?"
"Afraid not. I have some things to finish up here. I'll stop by later, though."
"Fiiine..." To be honest, Gabe was relieved Julian wasn't coming with him to see the townhouse. Julian was rather picky when it came to houses. Gabe didn't care what sort of place it was. A place was a place and it was better than sleeping under the bridge.

Gabe came upon the house. He looked it over. "A duplex?" He mumbled as he realized there was another house slightly connected to it. He didn't really mind living so close to other people. After all, he lived in an apartment for about four years. Besides, this place had two floors, it seemed. That was nice. Gabe then noticed the red-haired man looking up at one of the houses. "Hey. You Edouard?"

The man turned his head, "Gabriel, I presume?" Gabriel nodded and the man turned his entire body. "I see. Then yes, I am Edouard. A pleasure to meet you. Julian told me you are currently in search of a place?"
"Yeah...and he said you own a bunch of houses and could rent one out to me as long as I work for him."
"Yes, that was our agreement."
"So, which one is the vacant one?"
"This one. The grey one. Like?"

"It's big."
"It seems that way, doesn't it?"
"Does that mean it is actually small?"
"Well...I suppose to me, yes. My house is quite large compared to this. But for you, it is the perfect size."
"How many rooms?"
"There's a kitchen with built in dining room, a living room, a bedroom and two small bathrooms."

"I see."
"I've taken the liberty of already furnishing it for you, based on Julian's suggestions."
"Seriously?"
"He told me you have little to your name, so I thought this would be a nice house-warming gift."
"That's awfully sweet of you."

"I hope it wasn't too hard finding things that fit my style."
"Not at all. I just had to make a few trips to the red light district."
"...seriously?"
"Mm. It's alright. I was going there anyways...trying to find myself a lovely little lady to please Mother, you see."
"...in the red light district?"
"Of course."

"...That's...um..."
"It's just to scare her a bit. I'm getting quite tired of her always pestering me on settling down and having kids. Sorta makes me wish I turned out gay like Julian. She doesn't get on his case about settling down."
"We could always fix that."
"Hm?"
"Nothing."

"Anyways...why don't I show you the inside of your new luxury palace?"
"Oh, you French men are so charming..."
"Aren't we, though?"

"What the hell is this!?" Gabe's mood went from exceptionally cheerful to a mix of confusion and disbelief. Edouard simply glanced at him.
"What do you mean?"
"This...this place is tacky!"
"...Yeah, so?"
"Julian told you my style is tacky!?"
"Not in those exact words but yes."

"He told me you like strange things...so I picked up some art pieces..."
"...okay, that I like."

"But what about those?!"
"He said your last place was often cluttered with garbage."
"That wasn't my choice!"

"And what the hell is that supposed to be?"
"That? Oh, I just threw that in for shits and giggles. I call him Cuddles."

"Look, you can always redecorate."
"With what? All the money I earn from Julian goes straight to you."
"Then it sounds to me like you need a second job."

"Ugh, a second job? Really?"
"I know working sucks. That's why I became my own boss. But at least you have a home now so don't complain so much, okay?"
"Whatever." Gabe hated to admit it but Edouard had a point. He owed alot to Julian and his family. He'd just have to suck it up and come to love the decor.

"Well, I'll leave you to get settled in."
"Alright...thanks again."
"You're quite welcome, my little potato. Send Julian my love, will you?"

After Edouard left, Gabe took a brief tour of the house. It was sparingly furnished and quite empty but he figured over time, he could make this place fit his overflowing exuberance. That's what he did with the apartment, after all.

"Yeah..with some work, this place could be my dream home...minus the naked pool boy and toy poodle, of course."

"Julian was right. Kid's pretty cute."

"But Ant said he was an ungrateful little fruit bag...I just hope I don't wind up regretting doing this for him."
