"Mind if I join you?" Gabe asked quietly, standing at the doorway and staring at his cousin's wife.
"Not at all, Gabriel. This bed is big enough for the both of us," Elecy smiled as she moved slightly. Gabe groaned in relief as he sat down on the large bed, sinking into the mattress. "What's the matter?"
"What makes you think something is the matter?"
"Azure told me you like to climb into bed with people when you are upset."
"Oh, come on. I only did that when I was like...ten."
"Gabe...Tell me what's wrong."

"I don't know. I guess I'm just homesick."
"Oh?"
"It's not that I don't like staying here with you and Azure but...I just miss Aleera, I guess."
"You've forgiven her?"
"I said I missed her, not that I'd forgiven her."
"Ah, figures. I'd be hesitant to forgive her as well."
"I miss Julian too..."
"Then why don't you go back?"
"I don't know. I guess I'm just worried what will happen."

"Gabe, it's been six months since you came here. I'm sure everyone has moved on. You should too."
"Really?"
"Dwelling on things will only hurt you."
"I guess..."
"You're already making progress. Why, just look at you. You're wearing men's clothing."
"Only because Azure is terrified of seeing my cash n' prizes."
"Well yes..but you're also not wearing make up."
"Eh...I guess..."

"You know what you need?"
"A therapist?"
"No, silly. A haircut!"
"A...what?"
"When was the last time you had your hair cut?"
"Uh...."
"...You can't remember, can you?"
"Not clearly."

"How will a haircut help me to move on?"
"Your old self is tied into your long hair."
"...but...I like my hair..."
"I know. But trust me, you'll feel so much better. I'm sure we can style it in a way that is both you and not you."

"Look, I have a degree in cosmetology. I'd be more than happy to cut your hair for you. I even have some bleach and hair dye. Wanna do it?"
"I don't know..."
"Trust me. Nothing makes you feel like a new person like a new do."
"I guess...what's the worst that could happen?"
"I could make your hair white."
"What?!"
"Kidding!"
"You sure you know what you're doing?"
"Of course! Just look at my hair!"
"You dyed your hair?"
"...Yes."
"But I thought your hair was natural."
"MOVING ON, let's get started."

Gabe sat down at the vanity, staring at himself. He turned his head slightly, frowning. He had grown so attached to his hair. Keeping it nice and long was just something he did. But looking at himself, he realized something. He looked so much like Aleera. He knew, obviously, they looked alike. They were twins, after all. But he never realized how much he looked like her. "And the hair just makes it worse...fine. Chop it off. But do it tastefully!"
"No problem," Elecy grinned as she took out a pair of scissors.

Gabe was prepared to see something out of a horror movie, but to his shock, he actually looked good. He stared wordless at the mirror, running a hand through his hair. "...Wow..."
"Told you I'm good," Elecy gloated as she put the scissors away. "Nice, isn't it?"
"Nice? It's awesome!" Gabe giggled as he pushed the stool back and rose to hug the green-haired woman. "Thank you, thank you!"
"I'm glad you like it. Why don't you go show Azure?"

"Where is he?"
"The sun room. He's working out. I'm sure he will love the new you."
"Yeah, especially since now, my hair won't clog the drain."

Gabe skipped happily through the house, pulling the sliding door open. With a deep breath, he shouted, "AZZY!"
"JESUS!" Azure jumped, the kinetic energy of the treadmill causing him to trip over his feet. Just as he fell, Azure grabbed onto the panel of the treadmill, gripping it tightly. "WHAT THE HELL, BOY!?"

"Oh, I'm sorry! Sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!"
"You didn't SCARE me, boy. You just....surprised me."

"Ugh...now..." Azure glared from the corner of his eye, a look Gabe knew well. "What is it you want? . ..Wait a minute..."
"What do you think?"
"You changed your hair?"
"I let Elecy do it."
"You brave soul."

"Hey, I resent that!" Elecy pouted her lips as she stood at the doorway, "Are you saying I suck at cutting hair?"
"Remember the last time I let you do my hair?" Azure raised his brow.
"....Yes..."
"I'm STILL missing some of my eyebrow hair."
"You're so mean."
"....You did a good job. There. Happy."
"Very much so..."

Elecy pushed Gabe aside and in moments, she and Azure were oblivious to the world around them. Gabe stood there, awkwardly. Should he give them some privacy?

"....I'm going to...uh...go make dinner now...Wash your hands before you come to eat...seeing as how they've been in each other's pants...Ew."
