September was a month I deliberately allotted for myself. I spent the whole of it by reading, updating my blog, watching downloaded movies and series, and a bit of over-sleeping on the weekends. I almost isolated myself from everyone, dodging every "do you want to hang out with us?" questions from friends. For some reason, I just had to because I was tired. Really tired.
But October seemed to have allowed me to deal with my shortcomings. In fact, it turned out to be an opportune time for me to catch up with friends, and at the same time answered to my longing for good breather from an emotionally taxing month as well.
October 5.
When I was all prepared to watch Game 2 of UAAP's UST vs. La Salle men's basketball finals, I abruptly change plans and decided to spend the entire day with high school friends at
Sky Ranch in Tagaytay City instead. It was because one of our friends, Ixat, flew back to Manila for her month-long training at work.
And since we have not seen each other for ages, our group decided to drop by one of our friend's house in Silang to pay a visit and so that we could finally see our godchild, Haylee (they would call him Austin but I like calling him Haylee. I'm a Paramore fan, FYI). He's so big now, and cute, too, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he's very protective of her mom.
Finally, years after our high school graduation, we managed to have a simple get together! Hope we get to do this more often.
October 15.
Eid'l Adha fell on a Tuesday, so it was a holiday supposedly, but I had work to do. Together with my officemates, we went to the office of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature - Philippine chapter for an interview with Luis Manzano, who I found to be smart and funny. Also, that afternoon, I went to GMA Network Center to be part of the audience for Tonight With Arnold Clavio (Thanks, Daph!). Guess who's the guests? The Teng brothers! Imagine how I struggled to keep myself as pacified as possible on the set.
October 18.
Ate Rose-An and I spent the whole Friday night after work at Bannapple, well, to have some "Dr. Habib" session. Dr. Habib, by the way, is a character from our favorite American TV series
The Newsroom and he's Will McAvoy's new psychiatrist (new because prior to the story proper, it was the father who used to see Will), who employs a Socrates type of problem-solving-talking patients out of their problems, or rather, letting the patients talk and then letting them realize the problems themselves through the talking. I enjoyed the hearty discussion, especially when she poured out her kilig adventures with the Richard-Dawn love team (well, it was really mostly about Dawn Zulueta). It find it cute listening to Ate Rose-An, learning that a seemingly stern Amihan that I really admire can be mushy, too.

I had to go out again for a work-related event at Robinson's Ermita. Fortunately, the call time was at 2 in the afternoon so I was able to recharge from a last night's 1 a.m. return at home. Incidentally, my college best friend Cookie wanted to borrow my copy of The Fault in Our Stars so I told her to meet me up at the location. Turns out she came with Cejs, a college best friend and roommate, too.

October 23.
I went back to my Alma Mater to have blast at
The Varsitarian's 15th Inkblots. I was pleasantly surprised, though, to have seen Cueshe as one of the performers for the fellowship night. And I thought they were long gone and have disbanded already. Listening to their songs transported me back to high school days and it felt goooood.
October 24-27.
Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014. It was my first time to attend this prestigious sartorial event and honestly, I couldn't help but be awed by the hodgepodge of people at the SMX Convention Center. To be honest, I enjoyed it because it was a place where anyone can wear anything they want sans being judged. It was fun! I had a great time with Marky and Giselle, too, our interns, who are both very friendly and approachable.

Meryl Algenio To cap off the clingy-ness I had for the whole month, I and some other new Amihans spent a gluttonous eating spree with the V people at Kowloon House last October 30.

While the whole month's been peppered with unexpected and planned rendezvouses, I also was grateful to have patched things up with some people, which, I am very much hopeful, would finally make things return to normal, if not how they used to be. Though the commuting part for every get-together we had had been really exhausting, not to mention the moody weather that could turn the tables for the usual hours of travel, it was well compromised by the happiness I feel whenever I'm with friends.
Manifesto for the month of November? SPEND LESS.
