Setting up a Scene: Cheer Practice

Dec 30, 2009 14:22

So here I'll show you how I set up the following shot using animation and pose boxes as well as with OMSPs. If you have a cheerleader in your game, maybe this can inspire you.

You’ll need:
-Freezer Clock
-Silent Lucidity’s shiftable OMSPS
-‘moveobjects on’ to be on
-‘boolProp snapobjectstogrid false’ to be on
-Free will off
- ‘boolProp allow45degreeangleofRotation true’ to be on

Order:
I like to know which parts I’m going to do first, usually the simplest part first. I decided the order would be the girl in the front, the girl on the left, the middle part, and then the girl on the right (reason for that later)

I started with the set done (a football field) as well as with 8 sims in their cheerleading outfits.

For the girl in front, I used this posebox for her. I'd tell you where I got it but unfortunately the only thing the description says is "B Set"

However it looks like she’s sinking into the ground, so I used one of SL’s OMSPs, number 5, and without shifting it, placed her on it and then on the football field in front.

Then it gets a bit harder. I had a girl jump on the couch with the game set on “slowmotion 5” and waited for her to do a flip. As soon as she was midflip, I paused when she got to the part where I wanted her to be, and froze her. She was then placed behind the girl in front and slowmotion was set back to 1.

Next was the group. It needs to look like the girls are holding the other girl’s foot, which can be pretty tricky. For the first girl, I used Hula and More and used the karaoke animation. Once she was in the right spot, I froze her and set her on the football field.

For the next girl, I tried the cheer clap option on Hula and More, but her facial expression seemed to be a bit too much. Then Decorgal’s face overlay’s was taken out, and I chose neutral. Then I had her do the animation again and froze her and set her on the football field as well.

For the next girl, I had to think a bit for what pose to use. Eventually I took out the Freetime animation box and had her do the “Shoot basketball” option, paused her at the right time, froze her, and set her on the field as well.

For the last girl, I decided to use the shoot basketball option as well, since they can look a bit different, and I was mainly just too lazy to find another animation that would fit.

Then, I had the girl standing on top do the “Warmups 1” option on the freetime animation box under ballet, and froze her at the right moment.

That girl was then put on OMSP 2

Then one of the girls standing on the bottom was placed right behind her foot, so it appeared that she was holding it. Then the OMSP was recolored to invisible and two more girls were placed.

When I tried putting in the fourth girl, she couldn't be placed correctly since she was too close to the other sims. Solution: Place her on the plain, base game OMSP, and then place her in the right spot.

Now the group is finished, it doesn't look perfect, but it's harder to tell from afar.

Finally, it was time to pose the girl on the right. The reason she’s last is because she happens to be doing a dive, and if the game isn’t paused, water rings will appear around her neck. I swore there was a animation box that had diving animations, but I couldn’t find it nor could I find it in either of the paintings.
So I used the sim blender (the tree pictured next to her) to max out her body skill and sent her to the small pool I made. (Of course you don’t have to do this if you, unlike me, was able to find that animation).

). I set the slowmotion to 5 again and told her to dive. As soon as she changed into her swimwear, I used the sim blender again to change her into her everyday outfit.

Luckily she did do the right dive (sims with 0 body skill points tend to do mainly belly flops) and so I froze her and set her on the field. Unfortunately she was way too high off of the ground, so I used SL’s underground OMSP and lowered her so she was a bit closer to the ground. Then I used the ‘,’ button to set her on a diagonal.

Turn the OMSP invisible and done! Your sims are having cheer practice!
