Bored as I was, I began rummaging through the countless online quizzes that Jade-Feathers had posted on her LJ when I came across this particular Quiz How Boyish or Girlish Are You?. let me just say it was seeming to be another lame quiz and to tell you the truth it is, until I got to question 4

Well. I don't believe in the assignment of emotional characteristics to one gender or the other so I'll dispense quickly with the whether or not I'm more boyish or girlish.

I appear to be the odd one out so far because I would be more upset if my sweetie did something physically with someone else.

Obviously, like everyone else I would be upset by either situation.

Also I think it's not clear exactly what we're comparing. There is a lot of scope for different degrees in both situations.

"Fell in love with someone else."
People use "love" for all sorts of different levels of feeling - from fleeting attraction to eternal, exclusive love beyond all other things in life.

"Did something physically with someone else."
This can also range from holding hands to engaging in a secret sexual relationship for 30 years.

In any case, I think I would be more upset by the physical betrayal because I would regard that as a deliberate act against me.

I agree with Evil James that falling in love with someone else is not some accidental responsibilty free occurence.

But if my sweetie fell in love with someone else that doesn't necessarily mean my sweetie doesn't love me anymore. Love is a positive emotion and people can have the capacity to love more than one person at the same time.

Obviously my sweetie would have to choose. However, even if they choose someone else over me, then they have respected me enough not to act immediately on those feelings which is a much better break up if you're going to have to have one.

Depending on the degree, both situations may lead to break up. But at least the first can be done under better circumstances.
