The republicans are what the democrats used to be. Both parties have changed, one moved to the center, the other to the left.
I know I shouldn't be so astonished, but the idea that some peope consider he G.O.P. more centrist than they were in the past just floored me. At what time did the Democrats resemble modern Republicans? During the Southern Reconstruction?
