Part 6.5
June 20, 2039 - Monday
Vidcund leaned over and kissed Kristen on her forehead. She was still sleeping peacefully. It was Monday morning, and the previous night was the first time they’d slept together. Vidcund felt it was time to take steps to begin his plans for her. The genetic manipulations he’d been trying out on himself were working. He wanted to see if he could pass the traits on to a second generation.
He looked at her as the sheets lifted slowly with the pace of her breathing. She really was beautiful and Vidcund did love her, but somewhere deep down he still would have preferred an alien woman as a mate. Originally he thought of dating Akasha, but when he saw Lazlo’s feelings toward her, Vidcund figured he could still experiment on her from afar. The eggs she “donated” would become a part of his greater plan.
He decided to get up and make them breakfast. Since he was the boss, he thought they should sleep in and head to work late. Vidcund smiled remembering the previous night. He invited Kristen out for a romantic dinner. He showered her with flowers, fine dining, wine, and dancing.
After dinner, they walked around the park. The summer air was infectious, and before they knew it they couldn’t take their hands off of each other. Vidcund barely was able to keep the car on the road for rushing to get them to Kristen’s house. Vidcund didn’t realize that Kristen had seen all this before in her visions. It really didn’t matter the feelings behind it, because Vidcund wanted to plant his seed that night.
He made his way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. He had to work fast in case Chloe came home. She stayed out that night to give them some privacy. Vidcund needed to take his daily injections, but couldn’t bear them on an empty stomach. He also needed to lace Kristen’s food with a substance that would not only guarantee his seed took; it would accelerate her pregnancy. He couldn’t wait to be the daddy of the year to all of his alien spawn, and soon he too would have powers just like them.

June 28, 2039 - Tuesday
Monica: Ophelia, come in. What’s wrong?
Ophelia entered the living room and collapsed into the nearest chair. She looked as if she’d seen a ghost.
Ophelia: I see you’ve been decorating. The place looks great.
Monica: The green was so damned depressing. You’ve really brought about a change in Buzz, he’s let me go wild. Before I start rambling, what’s going on?
Ophelia took a deep breath. Where to begin? The day had been one full of shocking turns and surprises. She had to pick and chose what she could safely tell Monica as some of it was top secret. It all started late in the afternoon at work. Eve made some exciting progress with her time travel machine. It was no larger than a toaster, but she attempted to transport a watch from point A to point B. If successful, the watch would come out on the “B” platform with a 10-minute difference. Eve had been working on it for months and finally, she made it happen. When the watch appeared on platform B, everyone was ecstatic. Years of speculation became scientific fact.
As people begged Eve to try it again, Adam pulled Ophelia to the side. He’d been keeping something from her. Ophelia was amazed at how her creations were becoming more like humans each day. For Adam to realize that he was keeping a “secret” was a show of progress.
Adam informed Ophelia that he might have found what caused the virus spread that made the aliens get sick months ago. He said that he saw Loki Beaker sneak out of the building late one night. After people started getting sick, he scanned the production room and found traces of a fluid. After additional tests, he believed he'd found the virus that caused the outbreak.
Ophelia was horrified by the news. She couldn’t think of anyone to speak with other than Buzz. He’d know what to do, especially since he worked with Loki. After speaking with him, she told the robots to keep quiet until they figured things out.
Ophelia decided to head home. She’d received a strange call from her cousin, Nervous. He hadn’t seen Olive since her transformation and he really needed to speak with her. Ophelia didn’t know how to tell him he’d need to wait until after sunset. She planned to speak with Olive when she got home about it.
Once at home, she’d immediately felt her hairs standing up and chills running through her. Since becoming a vampire, Olive had become distant. She did vow never to hurt Ophelia and Ophelia trusted this to be true. All this changed when she entered the house. The first thing that greeted her was a strong smell of blood. Ophelia knew Olive needed to feed, but as she walked around the house she saw puddles of blood.
Ophelia called out to Olive. She found Olive and other vamps feeding on a corpse in her bedroom. Ophelia was horrified. She could have forgiven everything, but when one of the ladies rushed toward her, she knew she couldn’t stay in the house any longer. Olive kept the others at bay, but Ophelia didn’t wait to talk things over and threw clothes in a bag and left. The only place she felt she would be safe was with Buzz and his family. This was the only part of her day she could actually share with her best friend.
Monica: Oh my god! Your aunt is a vampire! Ophelia, you are lucky she didn’t attack you. Stay as long as you need to. Take the guestroom, it’s just been redone with new furniture and paint. Buzz won’t mind. Come on, let’s get you settled in.
Buzz: I won’t mind what?
Monica: Buzz, Ophelia needs a place to stay for a while. I told her to take the guestroom. Her aunt is a…well, should I say?
Ophelia: My aunt is a vampire. I don’t want to impose on you all, really. I can stay in my office at work, the sofa pulls out. I’ll start searching for an apartment tomorrow…
Buzz: Stay here, where it’s safe. I’d be worried sick about you in that office building. The spare room is yours for the taking. Stay, please, for a few days, a few weeks, forever if you want.
Tank: Whoa, dad. I’ve never seen you be so mushy.
They all turned as Tank walked in the room. He was just getting home from work. Monica ran to give him a hug as Ophelia hugged Buzz. Buck came from his bedroom to see what all the commotion was about.
Buck: I didn’t realize it was a love fest going on in the living room.
Buzz: Son, I’ve just asked Ophelia to move in.
Buck: Cool, go dad! So who’s cooking dinner?
They all laughed and headed to the kitchen. The night ended with a "Leave it to Beaver" feeling of hugs and laughs all around. Buzz couldn’t have been happier, having Ophelia nearby. Ophelia planned to call her aunt to try to understand what was going on. Could this be the beginning of a fresh start for everyone? This wouldn’t be Strangetown if everything were always perfect.

June 29, 2039 - Thursday
It was time to meet with all the half-aliens of Strangetown. PT needed to tell them some very important things about their existence and mission in life.
PT: There is something about humans we must all understand. It’s called the Human Condition and it’s defined as the experience of being human and living a human life. Humans go through a series of life events and emotions, which are a part of their existence.
PT: Aliens too have a similar existence with rites of passage and a need to thrive, have families, and find love. Aliens only differ due to abilities we possess. Through the course of time, we have procreated with humans. It is by no mistake that many aliens today have alien and human blood. It was believed that if any biological attack were made against aliens or humans, someone could carry on the race. Only months ago this was tested when aliens became sick. Those with mixed blood healed quicker than your pure blood counter-parts.
PT: At this time, I can’t tell you all everything. I was actually ordered not to tell you anything, but in light of recent events I must. Humanity is under attack. There are 7 people that need protection. You all don’t realize that each step you’ve taken was to start your training for a bigger mission. There will be a time when you are called to unify and help fight to keep the 7 and humans alive.
Seven assassins were sent to Earth to befriend these people and offer them a chance to stay alive. You will help guarantee they get that chance. I may not be with you then. My home planet has less oxygen than on Earth. So each breath is like taking in a noxious poison. I had to make provisions to live here, but alas that will come to an end soon. I’ve also taken steps in the past, but to speak of those things would put you all in danger.
PT:Janice, Pharaoh, Ramses, Stella, Chloe, Johnny, Lola, Roma you all will see things unfold and I will council you as long as I can. Some have fallen to the wayside, but before the end they may come to realize their purpose is great. Now, let me tell you what you’ll need to do.

June 30, 2039 - The Moon
Eve: Will this do it?
Adam: I’ve set the systems to begin fluctuating in an hour. Within 24-48 hours, they’ll have a system wide failure. The robots should shut down for repairs, pushing the project back for weeks, maybe months.
Eve: What do you think? Will this be enough?
Ophelia: We didn’t travel 15 years from the future for this not to work. It has to work. When we return, we’ll see if it’s changed things at all. If we can save their timeline, then we’ve done something good. Let’s go before they begin the robot guard rotation.
