West Farthing: Round 2.1 - Kim Family
Grace Kim was growing up faster than anyone could imagine. Her best friend was Crystal Shenkel.
She was an active girl, and loved being part of the West Farthing Junior Soccer League. Now that Grace was older and had activities of her own, Daniel started dating again. He met Ivy through a friend of a friend, and she didn't seem to mind Grace tagging along on their first date.
The reason became apparent over dinner at a local diner.
"I think you're a nice guy Daniel, and I hope we can be friends, but I should probably tell you that I'm gay"
Daniel was a little disappointed, but Ivy was a really cool person - she seemed to genuinely like Grace and Daniel enjoyed hanging out with her. They became very close friends.
She even came to Grace's big birthday party - Daniel could hardly believe his little girl was going to be a teenager.
Grace herself was quite pleased not to be a "little girl" any more.
Even now that he could have "solo" dates, Daniel still wasn't fairing very well. A date with Brook was a disaster, she gave him nasty attitude every time he tried to strike up a conversation with him - Daniel wondered why she'd even bothered agreeing to a date if she was going to be such a bitch.
Grace on the other hand had no trouble making some friends. After soccer practice she'd go hang out at the mall with other local teens.
One afternoon, Daniel had a surprise visit from Grace's old nanny Katherine. Daniel had long suspected the older woman had something of a crush on him. In a moment of weakness he figured "Oh, what the hell!"
With Grace out with her friends, Daniel and Katherine had a little too much wine - then a little bit of dancing and next thing her knew...
Scarfing down a bowl of cereal after Katherine left, Daniel felt so low - he'd stooped to scoring his daughter's old nanny.
He gave his best friend Ivy a call and the two of them played some pool while they discussed Daniel's dismal love life. Ivy found it pretty funny and after a while even Daniel had to admit it was one of those you just have to laugh at it situations.
Grace was oblivious to her father's relationship woes (I mean Srsly Dad, I do NOT want to know!) She'd gotten an after school job at a construction company and was saving up her money for an old beater to fix up. She loved messing with old cars.
She also had struck up a good friendship with some random guy on her soccer team whose name the author forgets at the moment.
Well, though Daniel coming in from doing some yardwork, at least Grace is having better luck than I am.
Author's Note: Seriously, every woman Daniel went on a date with was a total wench! (with the exception of Ivy who he got a long great with but she preferred women) Poor guy, no wonder he resorted to Katherine, at least she put the moves on him :)
