vidding chatter and Misfits review
I didn't think that anything further would distract me from my From Beginning to End vid, because the siren song of beautiful brothers in looooooooove is a powerful one. (see: exhibit SPN)
But apparently I now have a project titled LOLSam.vf, because S6!Sam is diamonds.
Except, okay. okay, really. I could not stop clipping like every second of The Incredibly Fictional Story of Two Brothers In True True Love, because it's just all so gorgeous. WHY ARE YOU SO ADORABLE AND/OR BEAUTIFUL? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
um, so I'm worrying if anyone will watch this though, since it's a completely obscure Brazilian film. oops? (I will give you links if you promise to watch my vid. I have no shame about resorting to bribery! no, really!)
And oh, and everyone in fandom is FIRED. How did I not know that Misfits was back? Sadly, I feel like I don't have much to say because, well, this show is just SO GOOD. Everything sort of speaks for itself. (don't know what the fuck I'm talking about? check out this S1 vid over here and this one)
Misfits: Episode 201
"Can we please stop killing our probation workers?"
I can't decide if this episode was supposed to a Simon one or Ensemble focus. But whichever the intention, it was both creepier and funnier than anything on SPN or TVD this season.
♥ I adore their belligerent new probation supervisor, who must never die. GET THIS MAN A BODYGUARD. "I know you're lying. But it's after 5pm, and I don't give a shit." (I kind of secretly want him to be Hoodie Man. and then I don't, because the only superpower he really needs is extreme bitchiness.)
♥ The shapeshifting effect was so disturbing. Less gory than the SPN style, but more unsettling.
♥ I was excited to see everyone find Simon's frozen body! I wasn't looking forward to this being dragged on through the season, so glad to see how that was going to work out. I love how surprised/not surprised everyone was at Simon's freakitude. And awwww, disposing of evidence is always a great team building exercise.
♥ I like the unexpected, and it did shock me a little that Lucy ended up letting Simon go instead of the gang bumping her off. They've just gotten so good at it by now, you know. ;)
"For the first time in my life, I feel like I belong."
"You murdered your probation worker."
"I didn't say it was perfect."
♥ It has become evident that I'm, like, a secret Simon/the gang friendshipper. It made me ridiculously, deliriously happy to see Simon finally SPILL HIS SEKRET HOPES & DREAMS about how he just wants them to love him forever OKAY and Curtis and Nathan are like, "sure". :DDDDDD

♥ Liked seeing Alisha use her power as a weapon -- we should see more of that! While her power would be kind of a beyond horrible one to have, besides Simon's it's also the best out of all of them for offensive maneuvers. I mean, Curtis would have them all beat but his is so unpredictable that it's basically worthless 90% of the time in any kind of conflict. Kelly's is mainly good for research & strategy.
♥ It's interesting that Nathan's power is immortality rather than healing -- he only gets better after he's dead. I like how the writers have taken care to separate things from the Heroes abilities -- Nathan's power is maybe half as useful as Claire's and Curtis's power is always russian roulette style solution to their difficulties (maybe there's a bullet in the chamber, maybe there's not) since he doesn't have the control Hiro did.
Misfits: Episode 202
Hey! Our dad's in the boot!
♥ You know, as much as I've emphasized to people how fun it is that Misfits is the anti-Heroes, where people rarely do anything incredible or want to be a superhero... I found myself completely charmed by the idea that Curtis becomes an unmasked avenger! (I've yet to watch the time flip montage in his eye frame by frame, though this kind person slowed it down & flipped clips. neat!)
♥ Hoodie Man strikes again! wheeeeeee! Mental Note: he's smarter than Simon and wants to keep Nathan alive, despite a tendency to shit on strangers' beds. (But whyyyyy does he want them to meet this new woman? I dislike additions to my main casts, so I can't help but hope she'll only have a small reoccurring role.)
♥ The writers actually made me care about Nathan's brother, so what happened to him mattered. That's rare for me, for a single episode character. (I know that everyone is still sadface about Lexi from TVD, but I honestly didn't care much. Like Ice Girl in this episode -- I didn't dislike her at all, but she didn't grab me too hard as a character I wish I knew all about either. It takes more for me to warm up to a new character.)
♥ The power reversals were so fun! I watched with my sister, and after Kelly we kept pausing before each one to make our own guess for now it would flip. (I completely called Ice Girl setting herself and Jamie on fire -- though I didn't guess that it would be anything permanent.)
♥ The reveal that his brother was dead just completely floored me. They did a good job mis-signaling us, so we were alert with concern that Nathan would get hurt while his immortality powers were out of wack and missed the other weirdness.
This show actually gets me to emotionally when I least expect it. So far:
(a) Nathan looking through the old woman's photo album
(b) Time traveling!Curtis giving a Kelly he hasn't met yet his jacket (for which I pretty much love Curtis forever)
(c) Simon making that Nathan songvid for Kelly
(d) That whole scene with Nathan, ghost!Jamie, and their dad
Some clarification for me? I must admit that I'm not certain if the ability to see ghosts was just the temporary reversal of Nathan's regular power (as I initially assumed) or a permanent ability... thoughts? Bueller?
So, so far loving the season. Maybe my only regret is that I want more Alisha/Curtis shippy screen time. What can I say? I was a big Rogue/Logan fan back-in-the-day. I love the whole my love interest is "untouchable" thing. And they're sweet. The shot in 1x6, where they're holding hands with the glass table between them? <3333333333333
