Fannish Improvments for Delicious

Oct 19, 2010 20:32

It should be of no surprise to anyone who knows that me I loooooooove Delicious bookmarking. We've been engaging in a passionate fandom love affair since, like, 2006. I know I am not alone in this, so I thought maybe I'd do a little post about useful delicious add-ons.

Note: these all require Firefox and the Greasemonkey add-on.

Top 4 Delicious Scripts

#1. Slash Tag Emboldener
This one was explictly made for fandom people. (the screenshot even shows how tagged fic will look). It makes the tags with a "/" slash in them bolded blue, to stand out. I love it SO much.

#2. Sort Visible Links
"Sort all the links on the page by their title, URL or popularity." This one comes in handy for when you want to quickly cut through your Network or Subscriptions backlog -- sort by popularity! Unfortunately, it won't sort further than your current view (so if you see 100 per page, it will only sort that 100, and then you have to click to the next 100 to see what's on the top for those). But it's still useful to more easily zero in on what everyone's crazy about right now.

#3. Dim Saved Links
"Dim out any links on Delicious that you've already saved in your own account." This one is REALLY useful to me when reading my Network and Subscriptions pages. It turns the things that you've already saved gray. So you can still see them if you want, but they don't distract from the new links you're really looking for.

#4 Delicious Star Rater
This is one I don't personally use, but I believe many others do: "Rate your most favorite bookmarks on delicious.com with an awesome star-rater. Rated bookmarks may be highlighted within the bookmarks list for easy recognition. The script uses a star-tag (★) for the rating."
