Femslash Big Bang Comments and Femslash TV Arc Rec
Huh! Two femslashy posts in the row... what is this world coming to?
The Femslash Big Bang (thelittlebang) is coming up and they did an interesting thing that I'd love to see catch on -- each author posted a little "preview" of their fic to kick-start interest.
And, you know, I'm really, really picky about the rare femslash I read but these caught my eye:
(1) A kind of weird, hybrid The OC AU WHERE RYAN IS A GIRL! (JJ/Emily Prentiss) Criminal Minds characters de-aged and replacing the canon characters in The O.C. JJ ~ Chino!!! Sorry, I cannot pass that up.
(2) Merlin Without Merlin AU! (Morgana/Gwen) When Merlin never arrives in Camelot the Great Dragon recruits the seer, Lady Morgana to act as reluctant protector to the increasingly oblivious Prince Arthur. So now Morgana has an enchanted sword, nightmares that come true and a girlfriend who, according to the Dragon, is destined to marry her foster brother. What more could a girl want?
(3) Fairytale femslash! Briar Rose/Snow White
(4) Gossip Girl RPS: 1960s female spies-in-drag AU! (Blake Lively/Leighton Meester) In which Blake works for the CIA and is undercover in male drag in London. Leighton is (obviously) the sexy Russian mob arm-candy who may very well be her undoing.
(5) SGA RPS diamond thieves AU! (Rachel Luttrell/Torri Higginson)
(6) Skins Season 3 Coda: (Naomi/Emily) The twins' the tentative steps to mend their relationship with each other and with their family as Emily moves forward with her first girlfriend.
Also! Given the dirth of canon f/f relationships on tv (oh Hex, and Sugar Rush, and South of Nowhere, and Skins S3 you are missed!), I usually take it where I can get it. So when I stumbled upon talk of an arc I hadn't heard of before, I had to check it out today. So... Layla/Jackie on Kick? The verdict is: reasonably entertaining and occasionally cute.
Kick is an Australian tv show that first aired in 2007 and is set in Brunswick in Melbourne, Australia. One of the plotlines follows the adventures of the Salim family, a Lebanese-Australian Muslim family with siblings Amen, Ozzie, Taghred, and Layla. Layla is a university student arranged to be married to Sharif, but everything changes when Layla falls for fellow fencer Jackie.
