Being Human 1x6, Season Finale

Feb 28, 2009 14:53

I must admit that I was more than a little leery of clicking on the season finale link that was released on the Being Human blog. I knew it was up, because they always release the episode online on Saturday, but I made coffee, and procrastinated, and oh, I don't know. I was just worried. I was very fearful that they'd ruin my little family.

Of course then I gave in.

And of course all my fears were for naught!

It was great to see a flashback to how Mitchelle and George met. (plus bonus Seth!) That's something we didn't get in the original pilot either, and it also set up nice foreshadowing for the episode's resolution. Both in underlining yet again George's emotional arc for the series and also hinting that werewolves are something that vampires have reason to fear (because that animosity doesn't come from nowhere).

SO MUCH MITCHELL/GEORGE/ANNIE LOVE. This series is so damned OT3 friendshippy and it makes me squirm with joy.

So many lovely wrenching moments between the three of them!

(and, of course, some additional M/G slashy tension and M/A het-y tension. both of which make me very happy. oh yes yes it does.)

Also great to see ex-girlfriend Joie(?) back. She had an interesting vibe with Mitchell, and I wanted to see her get a bit more screen time because it felt to me that she was a large part of the reason he was able to let George and then Annie in -- a person who proved that Mitchell was still able to love, despite his nature.

Plus, Nina's rant about the note was great (as always). She is so the female version George that it's almost incesty. (Luckily, fanfic has already lulled me into a false sense of security about such things. heh.)

The reveal of George's plan at the end was just, oh so perfect. Stepping up beyond his fears and then verbalizing what the show has been saying all along - that sacrifice and love are what humanity is about, and so this house & family they've made has been something human and real all along.

Annie gave up afterlife peace, Mitchell intended to give up his life, and George gave up his separation with the beast, his clinging to normality, his childish things. THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO SO MUCH. <3!

and bwahahaha at Owen's fate.

My only complaint would be the Nina foreshadowing. I like Nina, I really really do, but I'm not fond of the idea of werewolf!Nina, because it infringes upon my Happy Family now. As the human girlfriend, she didn't, but joining the supernatural club complicates things. It won't just be a special bond between Mitchell/Annie/George.

Or, you know, maybe in Season 2 it'll turn out fine and we won't lose that OT3 vibe at all. I'm not going to worry about it until it actually happens.
