down under and back up

Back from Australia! :)

I've been in Sydney for one week and it's been... well, interesting. It was quite expensive to be there, which has spoiled my enjoyment of the place a little bit; the first couple of days we were baffled at the price of a pretty basic bottle of water, but now I understand that there's an ongoing struggle to reduce plastic bottles usage. Still, $3.50 for water is a rip-off. I did like that you can just order tap water at the restaurant though, that's just awesome. ^^

It was also pretty damn chilly. I know, I know, I had been forewarned that coming in the winter meant freezing to death on the way to museums and monuments, but the beautiful coastal walk between Bondi and Coogee deserved a cold breeze... I would have sweated like a pig in the summer and enjoyed half the things I did. It was shocking to see people actually swimming in the ocean! And the waves! In spite of the cold, it was breathtaking to go to the beach.

Forget about all of that though, the highlight of my visit was going to the Luna Park with two amazing people that go by the name of spaciireth (HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!) and... hum, what's your username, Casey? Anyway, it was the most fun I had in ages and I didn't honestly mind that lunch overrun because we forgot ourselves talking about Doctor Who and everything else. :) Meeting your online friends? Definitely recommended!

I went north after Sydney and spent an entire week with the lovely leopion. Byron Bay was an endless source of enjoyment and there are no words to describe how easy it was to fall into this habit of meeting up with her everyday, talking fanfiction almost non-stop. And, of course, the thing that got me was that we could talk in real time being, for once, on the same timezone. ^^ I even got to bring home the beautiful Dramione drawing she tailor-made for me. I've never felt so spoiled in my life!

But, but... why was I MIA for so long? Unplanned hiatus? Nope. The internet here in Italy has just been less reliable than my memory recalled. It's been on and off intermittently since June and it's now come to the point where I have to reset the router every day. *sighs* Notwithstanding these problems, I have now decided that it needs to stop. I miss my friends and I miss reading your entries; internet or no internet, I am back. :)

presents are nice, friends, spaciireth, the universe is a fickle matchmaker, real life, leopion, feel the love!, i miss my friends!, travelling is my life, me myself and some more
