Is it me or has this half-series flown by?
Obviously, nothing would have been as good as last week's episode, but this wasn't too bad. It's the sort of psychological sci-fi that I just adore on Star Trek and it's not amiss in Doctor Who either. It's the whole bad-guys not really being bad-guys and viceversa with the good guys - good trope, very apropos in this episode.
Rory was also very apropos! I think it was about time that Amy realised that she can't be complacent about her husband 'cause girls dig him. And obviously, he understands how the Gangers feel because he was plastic until yesterday! He jokes about it, uses it to the advantage of Team TARDIS, but when you get down to it, it was 2000yrs of plastic and a head full of Roman stuff. I still remember when he was trying to tell Amy to run away because he was a 'thing'.
Also, he didn't die this week, though this being a two-parter I assume it might happen next week. :P
OH! Confidential was amazing! As soon as we landed on the monastery, I turned to Lookalike and said 'I want to see this place now!'. In my naiveté, I thought it'd be one single location, but obviously not and the wow thing about it is that it's Caerphilly Castle! I mean, I've been there, I've walked the same paths as the Doctor and Amy and Rory and everyone else! And then they showed the rest of the locations, which I now plan on visiting because they look stunning.
It was nice for a moment to think they had filmed on St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall... and the music was awesome: Muse!
I think the real difference from the opening two-parter and TDW was that Lookalike and I made more comments during the episode than usual. Usual = no speaking allowed during the eps. But it's good, it made me think and it made me go 'Why is it always Rory!?' or him go 'Why? Why did the Doctor have to stick his hand in it?'. We also yelled at the screen when Ganger!Doctor appeared and the credits rolled. Hehe.
