seven deadly sins: sloth

Mar 20, 2011 13:06

A day late because my swollen eyelid made it difficult to stare at the screen. Nice Flatmate thinks I may have picked up something from the floor of the Drama classroom when I had to crawl on it as Lady Fidget - 'toiling (pant) and moiling (reach forward) for the prettiest (pant) piece (reach forward) of china'. I am inclined to agree, I am also inclined to hate that classroom from now on and fight to have it sterilised before I ever set foot in it again.

Day 4: Sloth.
Seven things you neglect to do.
  1. Bills/receipts/etc. A box at home, a drawer at uni, is dedicated to the sole purpose of containing bills and receipts from wherever I go and whenever I spend. Still, the real purpose is to keep track of what I do and how much money goes into it, but I remember maybe once a year that I actually need to sort through the stuff. :P

  2. Back-ups. Like, even now that I recently had a scare with my e-mails. Have I, since then, updated my last back-up? No! It's in the drawer next to my desk and it literally takes minutes, but my laziness claims precedence over everything. Plus, most of the really important stuff (*coughfanfictioncough*) is also archived online, so Lazy!Me feels relatively safe.

  3. Coursework. I said last term that I would never leave stuff until the last minute again, and yet I'm doing it right now because I signed up for fandom stuff and in my overconfident mind decided that I would be able to do everything at the same time. Yeah... doesn't work like that.

  4. Presents. Another thing I leave until the very last minute. It's just that I need reminding; if you tell me every day for a month that some person's birthday is coming, I will probably remember to buy/do something special. Probably. ;)

  5. House calls. It's not that I forget I have friends, it's just that when I fly back home all I want to do is veg on the sofa and let somebody else do the work for once. Everyone is more than welcome to come and visit me, that's how lazy I am.

  6. Health. It's wrong to postpone doctor's appointments, and counterproductive as well. Kids, don't do it. As luck has it, it's still my mum who's in charge of when I am absolutely due at the dentist's or the gynaecologist's or the oculist's (lots of -ist's), otherwise I'd never 'find the time' to go.

  7. Old stuff. Yes, one of the great things about myself was that I keep everything. That obviously includes clothes, but after a while those really start to grow old and I barely even wear them... especially if they were given to me by my grandparents (sometimes they get it right, and sometimes it's quite the opposite of that). Why don't I throw these more or less rags away? Sentimental value? The question lingers. :)

I have been lazy in answering this too, and isn't that curious? ^^
