And I'm definitely with you on Ianto. I can buy affections, friendship and lust, but they've got a way to go before I can be convinced of love. And even then I doubt it would be monogamous love!
What A levels are you looking at?
And as long as you show up to the lessons and do the work, they're not as hard as everyone makes out. Everyone's like "the jump from GCSEs to A levels is so much" but for most subjects they're lying. I did two maths A levels (four and a half overall) and I speak with experience.
Except chemistry. If you're doing that you're on your own! ;-) (Everyone has their pet hates, after all...)
I don't just have a fandom to-do list, I have a fandom to-do notebook. My fandom life is as much work as my actual job some days!
I can buy affections, friendship and lust, but they've got a way to go before I can be convinced of love. And even then I doubt it would be monogamous love! Oh totally. I just can't see Jack LOVING him! He's JACK! I mean, i'm listening to the S3 soundtrack - the 'Boe' track - and it just reminds you of how much there is too Jack. I mean, he becomes the Face of Boe! And even though that doesn't happen for millions of years, it still shows that there is SO much to Jack - he's been through so much, and he's seen so much, and he's so much as a person and i'm sorry, but Ianto just isn't. Jack needs someone really special.
What A levels are you looking at? Well, definitely French, History and English Lit. But I also want to carry on German, because i've always dreamt of being fluent in several different languages. However, i'm v.interested in Sociology, so i do not know WHAT i'm gonna do. Cause my favourite teacher heroine, teaches it, and she SCARES ME. And it would be WEIRD having her as a proper teacher, and ALSO then i'd just be like

I don't have trouble buying that Jack can fall in love, so much as Ianto specifically doesn't work like that for me. It's odd, because I can see Jack's relationship with Rose, the Doctor, Estelle and the real Captain Jack so much more easily than with Ianto. And the latter two are only in one episode each!
Is this woman a good teacher? Or just someone who's famous in the field? Because if you know for a fact she's a brilliant teacher, I'd be there in a shot. My politics teacher was literally the most amazing teacher ever and politics was a complete delight. Despite the fact that I'm a mathematician (did two A levels in it and am part way through a maths degree), politics was my favourite and my highest scoring A level purely because of this teacher.
And yup, fandom is definitely fun! Most of the time, anyway! ;-)
I don't have trouble buying that Jack can fall in love, so much as Ianto specifically doesn't work like that for me. Mmm, totally! In my main fic at the moment, Seeing Double, Jack ends up falling in love with this woman who's Rose's spiritual twin/soulmate, but is in a lot of ways very much a female version of him. But she's different enough to challenge him, and doesn't sleep with him for AGES - not until they've been in love for months and months (mind you, Time Travel does much things up a bit :P) But i never planned it, it just made sense. I thought - yeah, i can really see Jack falling for someone like this. And he does. So i think things like that, and Estelle and Jack and John and the Doctor show he really does fall (and usually quite fast and hard) for some people, but they're always a bit special.
Is this woman a good teacher? She's fantastic. I know this for a fact. But it's... complicated. I can't explain it without ranting for AGES, but she's not just another teacher. And i like the fact that she cares about me and lets

It's whatever comes naturally, really, and Jack/Ianto just feels a bit forced. "Oh look, two pretty men, they obviously must get together" is, well, fangirl mentality. It's almost odd to see it on actual TV...
Do you know for a fact things would change? It might be because my college wasn't huge (about a hundred and ten students in my year group when I was there) but I definitely felt I had a relationship with some of my teachers. But I can see why it would be nice to have that sort of support from someone.
