Sorry for the following rant, guys. It's probably nonsense for most of you, but  I need to vent.
I'm also sorry for any typos or mistakes!

THEY (I did not give my vote to that delinquent) elected Berlusconi for Prime Minister again.
Maybe you don't know who is he or what's so wrong with him. The saddest thing is that most of my compatriots don't know ( Read more... )

England is one big hub of corruption regarding the media and politics too.

We've recently had a scandal regarding planning permission and donations to the Labour Party campaign; A property developer (David Abrahms) had his application for an out of town development turned down because it would have caused congestion and been too dangerous. He then made a very large donation to the labour party, and re-applied and got the contract. And Rupert Murdoch's (well, now his son, as he retired) media monopoly should be criminal under competition laws, but gets away with it, annoyingly.

I did some reading up on Berlosconi for a module, and he seems utterly corrupt, it has to be said. My current annoyance, is that whilst western governments are obsessed with 'spreading democracy', the west is far from being democratic itself. I'm not saying a dictatorship is the best choice, obviously, but democracy has become one of these words used far too often, and isn't used accuratly.

Me and the hubby also constantly talk about emigrating, because the way things seem to be heading politically, we disagree so much with the agenda, that we don't want to play any part in it, whatsoever. Current plan, is moving to a smallish Outer Hibrides island, and getting a small house with some land, and becoming self sufficient, because we no longer identify with what our country stands for.

And, since I can barely speak french, and that's my only knowledge of any language other than english (and sindarin, obviously ;o)), I can't pass judgement on anybody's language skills! I am so much in awe of multilingual folks; I am so impressed at how good your english is so often... I'm very jelous!
