I think I haven't mentioned all this stuff yet...
I'm trying to switch to 100% natural products, be it house cleaning, cosmetics, diet, all that jazz..
I've recently started reading stuff about brands that do tests on animals, and polluting agents that are found in the most common house/beauty products. There's no way in hell I'm giving my money to those people. You wouldn't believe how many brands, the most common ones, do this kind of crap. I'm also a lot more interested in ingredients, chemicals, which ones are bad for pollution and which ones aren't. I've actually learnt to recognize the most harmful chemicals, and now I always check the ingredients of all detergents/washing powder/shampoos/toothpastes/etc, before buying.
I am trying to take all the info with a grain of salt, and with critical sense. Sadly, many people who're interested on this topic tend to be fanatics, or extremists, who only talk with allarmistic tones and try to force you to understand and accept their point of view.
I know I'll never be able to avoid ALL "evil" products and some ingredients will ALWAYS be tested on animals- I know they need to be, sadly. I also know that many brands sold as "ecological" are actually a big cheat. But I'm trying to learn as much as I can, and do my little part.
So... I've started searching for health shops, natural, organic brands, and such stuff.
It's quite expensive for me, but I don't care: I'm not buying those chemical-laden, tested on animals, polluting products anymore!
Actually, I'm also doing something good for my own health and interests. Just to mention one little, insignificant thing, my gums stopped bleeding when I started brushing my teeth with an organic toothpaste without harsh chemicals.
My family is not taking it all that well- they agree, but to a certain extent. They try to avoid products of the worst corporations- Procter & Gamble's to name the most infamous one, but they don't go out of their way to find biodegradable or cruelty-free products.
I understand them, it's not like I suddendly turned into some PETA fanatic preacher. As I already said, I dislike that kind of people.
There would be a lot more to elaborate, but I'm sleepy now. :P I'll probably edit later, or something!
