[Daine...does not know what a telephone is. Nor pictures, televisions, gas stoves, refrigerators, or anything else from America, for that matter. After waking up on someone else’s bed and wandering confused throughout the house, she finally picks up the telephone, holds it the wrong way, and begins to speak. She thinks this is all rather insane, ( Read more... )

[Akako has to strain herself to hear the other on the phone. It annoys her that she's only getting bits and pieces of this conversation.]

The telephone isn't a magic device. Nor are the photographs. But I know I have seen a frog once during my stay here. And can you please flip the phone around so I can hear you better?

Oh. Some sort of machine, then?

[Daine takes the advice and flips the phone over]

But I can't hear them. It's like being inside a quiet room. These...photographs, though. They're false.

Yes, the telephone is a machine that we use to talk to others. And yes, those photos are fake even if they somehow have images of us doing such mundane things with strangers.

Hmm? You can hear animals? A fellow magic user I assume.

So it's like a letter, but much faster. That makes sense- and the pictures are fake! Why would anyone go through the trouble to make such silly things?

It's called Wild Magic. And apparently it's not working.

Not exactly. Though perhaps you are right considering the telegram was what helped the invention of telephone. But I am not sure about the pictures myself. I believe it is due to the sick pleasures of the people running this town.

Wild Magic? I haven't heard of that branch. I mainly deal with the Black Arts. And the lack of powers is due to once again to this town. They seem to find it funny to strip those of their possessions.

Another mystery, this telephone. I'll be sure to use it properly next time around, then. I wonder if the photographs could be hidden somehow? They're a bit frightening.

It's a magic having to deal with animals. Like when people say you're horse-hearted? I'd like it back, though. And my breeches, too.

I've tried. That awful drone woman just places them back on the wall the next day. It is as if they have copies after copies of these photos.

I have seen others who are able to cast magic but they have been here for much longer than you or I. We can only assume after a given length of time we can receive our possessions back.

They probably keep them tucked away somewhere we'd never think to look.

That's a comfort.

Tsk. Perhaps but I rather have my personal belongs on me at all times. And my presence in my own home world.

Ah, forgive me for my annoyance. I am Akako Koizumi.

I am sorry for ranting to you about such trivial problems Miss Sarrasri. I normally don't but this place just rubs me the wrong way.

It's perfectly fine. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's in a bunch over this.
