More art!

Finished commission #3 (I will upload those commissions here, too, one day. Just not today. Because today I plan on another pseudo-411 spammage) and am starting to feel those first pangs of artistic burnout that commissions always give me. Doesn't matter if they're great fun to do, it's just the principle that I can't draw what I want until I've drawn what I have to, kinda deal.

Anyway, I countered the disgruntled muses by taking a day off all commissions and doing something just for fun.

Fun in this case having the meaning of 'harassing Even and Amaru some more'. X3

If you're not familiar with this particular take on Vexen and Marluxia, check my LJ-post from the other day. Which in turn is a continuation from another older post explaining bits and pieces of the crazy plotbunny leading up to the current... situation. XD

Full-blown color CG of the lads in question. Wearing the lovely Disney Castle fashion I designed for them in that last post. Note the Mickey-buttons. X3

Amaru is somewhat clingy. This for quite good reasons, as Even is an extremely slippery kind of person who would rather not take responsibility for anything whatsoever ever, and whose response to domestic trouble tends to be the back-door. In the dead of night. Possibly leaving a note. If he's feeling magnanimous.

Current setting is Radiant Garden. Even is slave-driven by a very pissy Leon working dutifully all day to right his past wrongs by helping restoring the city. Amaru is, with certain lack of enthusiasm, playing the good housewife.
Things are even more dysfunctional than they usually are with 411.
Ah, the beauty of it. XD

" I... made you your favorite dinner. Tried. Er. Maybe a bit overdone. ... ... Do you like it?"
*snigger* How far have you fallen, o Graceful Assassin, you former young lord of legendary lands of sakura! Amaru tries to master cooking to keep his Even happy. At least at first it doesn't work very well. He's never had to do it before, to start with - he could probably burn boiling water. XD

At least this particular dish doesn't have the fresh baby-squid in it. Very fresh. They can be a bit tricky to peel off of the spoon unless you use your teeth; little suckers cling on tight. Love knows some boundaries; not even Even could manage the baby squid. u.u

" Determination! Practice! Discipline! For honour!"
Amaru, like his former nobody can be very, very determined when he puts his sharp and sneaky little mind to something. Current goal of life is to master cooking. Give him a bit of time and some decent cook-books (and a helping hand from bless-her-heart Aerith) and we'll get there in no time!

(crack of the week: Amaru can and will also use vegetables and kitchen utensils in ways they were never intended should he happen to overhear people on the street badmouthing his Even. Those sharpened carrots soon gain a fearful reputation, and the badmouthing becomes reserved for special occasions, ie behind locked doors. Fear the carrot-ninja! 8D )

Quick chibi-doodle. The pastries are a joke, pointing at Two For Tea, the fic I wrote the other day. Neither Amaru nor Even (nor Marluxia or Vexen for that matter) eat cream pastries. This doesn't keep them from buying them occasionally - for old times' sake. u.u

However. This little pairing is far from all fun and games - if they weren't so bloody good at angst and dysfunctionality, what fun would they be?

They still retain the memories of their nobodies, but are suddenly stranded with hearts; emotions they aren't at all used to deal with, but now have to. Think puberty, and you have their level of emotional maturity and reasonability down pat. u.u

Trouble in paradise. Another quarrel. Even doing his usual slippery thing, trying to sneak out the back-door for good. Amaru catching him in the act and clinging to his feet until he promises to not leave until they've talked things out. And then Even has to leave for work.
Amaru resigns; " If you don't want me, I'll become what you want."
A haircut, some pink dye and half a bottle of flower-perfume later, the illusion is almost perfect. And Even can resist Marluxia no more than Vexen could, and chooses, perhaps, not to see that the eyes are dark grey, not blue - nor the pain and elation in them that his love is ensured once again; if only for the wrong person.

Mmm, massive angst. Listening to emo-music while pondering the silly boys makes it even more outrageous. X3

More sugar-sweet angst. Keeping up appearances isn't easy - Amaru himself is horribly fragile when it comes to Even, and to play a convincing Marluxia he has to keep up the cool at all times. Doesn't always work. And every time it doesn't, the contrived illusion cracks a little further.
Poor things. Misunderstandings R Us. u.u
