Hello!! I'm a reader from America... anonymous April 21 2006, 18:16:00 UTC
Wow, it is an honor talking to you. :) YAY! I have for so long wanted to review on this story but am not used to having registering. So I am reviewing here. Back when you wrote "Unbreakable Link" and "Cassandra's Memoirs"...I found the fic when I was 22, read, and hung on your every chapter. They were GREAT! OMG you have a way of making someone stay on the edge of their seat! (I am serious I would tune in every day to see a new chapter). But recently I worry, it has been two years almost (I am 26 now) and I still have not seen anymore chapters on Cassandra. You left a cliffhanger and I am dying to know what happened. :( Does the dance teacher ever "out" Hermione about being Voldemort's Daughter? What happens to Cassandra? Is there anyway you could give me a lil' quick synopis of what happened afterwards, maybe this will put my curiousity at rest. I have a couple other friends who I have hooked on HP fanfiction and they had the same question too. You are a great writer and I read your other stories as well. (all of which are very good I might add) But I would like to know if and when you will be updating Cassandra (memoirs of a heroine). If worse comes to worse, I have seen other people make another separate story (a third sequel) that picks up where the old one left off. Maybe you can do that? (just a suggestion). I love your stories but I would like to see this one finished. You are an excellent writer (trust me I am in college and you write better than my peers) and I would love to see how this story ends. I know you are probably very very busy (I am too)....but please, please, please try to update. :) Or if you have the rest of the story somewhere, a linkie will be appreciated. If you can't, it is okay I understand, but at least tell me what happens so it can put my curiosity at ease. Sorry to bother you. Thank you! Thank you! *bows* Hope all is well over in England! :) Keep up the good work!!!

Aw, thanks so much for lovely, lovely comments.

Oh, yes, and I'm Silvestria- this is my personal journal, so yes, same person!

About Cassandra. Yes. Honestly. I love that story. I am far more engaged with those characters than any other characters I've ever created. Cassandra, Nero, Catherine, Xanthia and all the rest are very dear friends of mine. I haven't written anything for ages on it, though I often think out scenes in my head and the characters and plot are very much alive for me. The characters have grown and developed a lot from what they were whenever they were first created.

Basically, as I've grown as a writer, reader and indeed person, the way I've been writing it has become problematic. The technique of writing Cassandra's journal meant that I had to include lots of information and scenes that are not really relevant to the plot which, considering that the story will/would span all 7 years at Hogwarts would make it really very, very long. Secondly, I insisted on concealing Lady Potter's identity (it's pretty obvious!) because I feared revealing it would give away my entire plot. This obvious didn't happen but the fact that it is nevertheless concealed means that I am heading for a massive anti-climax. There were other problems with the form and with the plot. Basically it was big and unwieldy.

My eventual aim is to rewrite the whole Unbreakable Link story in "real time" as it were, starting with the founders' story (currently in flashbacks) which would make it much easier to plot, though it might lose some scenes (outtakes are always fun though!). That's the aim. At the moment I think it unlikely that I will be starting anything that grand soon. I've started at Cambridge this year and the work load's too high really for me to want to get involved in any major story.

I have an uncompleted chapter 10 of Cassandra which I have been debating whether or not to upload. I'd like to finish it first though. However, I've dug myself into a plot hole so I'm not sure whether I will.

Ugh, I don't know! I can't expect to keep readers waiting forever. (It's such a fantastic thing to discover that I still have readers of that story- I was thinking it was probably just my mum by now!) I'm just loath to post a big plot synopsis when I do want to do something to the story eventually because then you'd be all spoiled. And in fact, if I gave a proper plot synopsis it would practically be the story as I want to rewrite it.

Another thing holding me back is the fact that HP canon has progressed. If I were to rewrite the whole saga I'm not sure which HP sites I'd post it at, because it does not go beyond GoF. I'm tempted to include small bits of new canon like have Ron marry Luna instead of Lisa (totally random choice of girl!) and things like that but I'm not sure how that would work! I don't think I'd attract any new readers without taking account of the new canon which obviously I can't do.

This is very unsatisfactory to you! I wish I could say that a new chapter is forthcoming, but it simply isn't likely to be for a while. The summer maybe? I do want to finish The Mancunians though so I don't want to start anything else before I've done that.

But please know that I am still mentally engaged with the story! You know, it was only recently that Nero got a body in my mind's eye. He'd just been vague up till a few days ago. Now I know what he looks like! It's cool!

Thanks again so much for reading. Do check this site every now and then. My e-mail's silvestria _ fanfiction at yahoo dot co dot uk (minus the spaces and with correct punctuation) so if you e-mail me there I can let you know if there are any updates. :)

I'd love to discuss the story with readers. It's an entire world in my mind but I've never really had any discussion of it except with my parents. Ooh, you're getting me back into it! *smacks self* Degree must come first!

Hope all's well in America. :) Incidentally, where did you find this page?

I just wanted to make sure this was the right site before I responded on my LJ account. Thank you so much for getting back to me. Yes I still read your stories and congrats on getting into Cambridge. I just finished my bachelors and graduate on wednesday. I love to write my own stories but they are not HP related but still, nothing is as good as your stories. I am basically a Hr/H, Hr/D, & Hr/D shipper. So that is why I find your stories practically addictive (in a good way. ^_^ LOL!) As far as everything being well in America...blah...once they get Bush out of office then things may get better. >< No body really likes him. Now there are arguments about whether immigrants should be allowed in America...uh...reality check for Bush...America is nothing BUT immagrants that is what the country is founded on. The only true Americans lost all their land and run casinos out west. (I talking about the Indians of course) but I wont get into it. All I know is that if another Bush moves into office I am moving to CANADA. Hehehe thank you though for putting my mind at ease about the story. I will keep checking back in. Incidentally I found this page through one of your stories...under Read/Review or Authors notes I think that you meantioned being on another site...so I went to fanfiction.net and then I saw you had an LJ. I found the link somwhere in there. ^_^ Alot of the artwork I find is mostly on DevianArt...VERY cool if you check it out. I frequent Mugglenet.com alot. Do not feel like you are the only one...there are alot of authors I read who do not finish the story because J.K.Rowling goes lord knows where with the books and that ends up throwing everyone off because then the stories are good, but they are not cannon. I also understand about the synopsis, because what someone thinks will happen now, will probably change after the seventh book. It is a bit vexing but I am very, very patient so dont worry, I know what it is like to be boggled down with college. I might go on for my Master's soon but I will never be too busy to read your stories. ^_^ Hope all is going well and I wish you the best of luck. *hugs* Thankies!!!
