Tiffany led Taeyeon to the dance floor. The huge warehouse-turned-into-a-dance-club was backed with young people like themselves, ready to dance for the next 24 hours. It was the biggest techno dance party of the summer and the first time Tiffany heard about it she knew she had to come. She had persuaded Taeyeon to join her. Taeyeon had been hesitant at first, complaining about how she would be exhausted after a long week at work, but now she was as excited as Tiffany was.
They made their way through the crowd to middle of the dance floor. The world was all flashing color-lights, fast beats, warm bodies swaying to the music. It was Taeyeon's sparkly eyes, blond curls and bubbly laughter.
They danced and danced, every now and then making their way to the bar counter to buy some cold soda, sparkling wine and weird tasting pink shots. They lost all sense of time in that dark, packed, hot warehouse. Their feet started to hurt and Tiffany started to feel lightheaded.
"I need some fresh air! Let's go outside!" She has to shout. "What?" Taeyeon frowned, unable to hear her. Tiffany took hold of Taeyeon's wrist and pulled her closer. "I need fresh air and my feet hurt" she said to Taeyeon's ear, her hair smelled like fruits. "Okay, sounds good!" Taeyeon answered, her breath tingling at Tiffany's ear.
The sun was rising in the horizon. A fresh breeze of air came from the sea as the girls were sitting on the rocks. The waves hit the shore lazily. A few clouds were sailing on the quickly lighting sky.
"Uah, it's so pretty!" Taeyeon exclaimed.
"Very romantic," Tiffany noted with a low voice and gave a knowing look to Taeyeon. The girl giggled brightly. "Ah, my feet hurt. I'm so tired too.." she complained and shifted so she could lay down and place her head on Tiffany's lap. They were quiet for a while.
"This is how it should be," Tiffany said softly, looking at a seagull that was soaring above the sea, "a summer morning, sunrise, the sea, two people..." her voice fading off.
Taeyeon didn't say anything for a while, she just looked up at her friend's face. "You'll find her. One day. Don't worry."
"I know," Tiffany sighed, absentmindedly looking at her toes. She but a smile on her face and turned to Taeyeon, "and you'll find him."
They fell into a comfortable silence, enjoying the day's first light. Taeyeon was playing with the ends of Tiffany's long cherry red hair. Their bodies were tired but warm and clumsy, their heads felt light and heavy at the same time, thanks to the alcohol they had been consuming. It was all very dreamlike.
Taeyeon got up to a sitting position. She was sitting very close to Tiffany, looking at her with a pondering look. Tiffany was avoiding Taeyeon's eyes, the other girl was almost too close to her. "What is it like?" Taeyeon asked seemingly innocently.
"What is w-what like?" Tiffany answered nervously.
"You know," Taeyeon placed her hand on Tiffany's chin and turned her head so they were looking each other in the eyes, "kissing a girl?" For a moment confusion was written all over Tiffany's face. Taeyeon leaned forward, her lips parting slightly. Tiffany didn't resist, she relaxed and leaned forward as well. Their lips met when they leaned closer. The seagulls were screaming and the sun was warming their skin, but Tiffany couldn't tell. The world around them disappeared. All that was left was soft lips, tangled hair, sweetness and passion. Finally they parted, feeling slightly breathless.
"Well" Tiffany cupped Taeyeon's chin with her hand "there is a lot more lipstick stains." she said as she run her delicate finger across Taeyeon's lips, removing the smutch. Taeyeon's laughter was warm and full of fondness.
Tiffany knew that they had only been silly drunken kisses to Taeyeon. Still her heart refused to believe her head. All her waking hours were filled with daydreams of Taeyeon, of her deep, dark eyes, her long blond hair, her dazzling smile.
It had been a week since the last time the girls met. The week had been beautiful and sunny so the little cafe were Tiffany worked had been swarming with customers. It wasn't sunny now though. Heavy, grey clouds filled the sky. Tiffany was lightly shivering as she waited for her friend at the bus stop, standing under a bright pink umbrella. She hardly noticed how cold it was since she was so excited and nervous. It was weird to feel so, Taeyeon was only a friend after all.
Taeyeon finally came, hopping off the bus and hurrying to Tiffany. They hugged briefly. "This isn't exactly the best weather for a walk..." Tiffany started.
"No worries, I brought an umbrella too!" Taeyeon said cheerfully and took a black umbrella from her bag.
They went for a walk at the nearby park. Taeyeon was in a very good mood. Tiffany's nervousness soon melted away and she was joking and smiling along with her friend.
"By the way, what puts you in such a good mood today? New shoes? New dress?" Tiffany asked after a while.
"I've been dying to tell you this! It's way better than any new shoes! I met this guy..." Tiffany hardly heard the rest of it.
"I'm happy for you" Or one day I'll be. She felt like crying.
The rainy weather mirrored her mood perfectly.
