Ok, so eventually I had to do this. I had to make something to do with theology.

So, I expect to get shot down for all of this, but really, think of this in a method where you do not have to accept God, although at the same time, for most of it, God's existence helps. And since I wont try to prove that, assume it for the argument please, or simply ( Read more... )

Sorry, forgot a bracket, Galileo said: I do not believe that a God that would create us with senses would ask us to forgo their use.

The idea I put forward was that Africa did indeed do better than we did. The theory is that it's a more loving society that we should learn from, but at the same time does have the issues with money and people ya know living. The problem with the Third World is that in my view of the universe we must care, evil by inaction, not simple evil by action.

As for morality I believe there is a code of morality in existence. There's the idea of "humanistic morality" where every religion does indeed have a moral system that lines up with each other. As well, we can simply assume there is a right and wrong in every situation, but it's situational absolutism with things like stealing being situationally relative without your problem of "God Said So" (which is what I was attempting to get at).

The Holocaust example is one that has so many people involved that I've never encountered someone who makes the example of it being good except as a logical argument. Many people will indeed wish to try to understand it in an relativist way. But honestly they are then stating that the Holocaust is evil albeit it is a lesser evil to stop a greater one. It's the acceptance of a lesser evil.

The humanity as evil argument is fine, but then they are still absolutist in some way, although, their absolute definition defines evil as humanity, which is difficult.

Feel free to try again later. Seriously, I enjoy this sort of back and forth, defining existence is a hobby of mine!
