Who knew it would take politics...

OMG SHE POSTED! :)

So, the DNC ended on Thursday and it was truly awesome. 85,000+ people came to see Obama speak. Over 38.5 million people watched in TV. That was more viewers than the Opening Ceremonies, the last episode of American Idol, or the Academy Awards.

Does anyone think the Republicans can come close to topping that? My only regret was I didn't know they'd be showing it in Times Square (and I rushed home from class to see it. I could have done it the NY way! D'oh!)

So, how does McCain and camp respond? First, McCain airs a congratulatory ad during the convention for Obama's nomination. Then they respond with this pathetic tripe:

"Tonight, Americans witnessed a misleading speech that was so fundamentally at odds with the meager record of Barack Obama. When the temple comes down, the fireworks end, and the words are over, the facts remain: Senator Obama still has no record of bipartisanship, still opposes offshore drilling, still voted to raise taxes on those making just $42,000 per year, and still voted against funds for American troops in harm's way. The fact remains: Barack Obama is still not ready to be President." (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/08/28/1302767.aspx)

Apparently, they didn't actually LISTEN to his speech. But, let's look at the "not ready to be president" bit of their argument, which is fairly pathetic in light of their VP pick.

Sarah Palin.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Probably the most anti-woman on the planet (anti-choice, anti-Rove vs Wade) and the most unHillary-like person to try to sway Hillary voters onto her side (pro-oil, pro-drilling, anti-polar bear, pro-gun, pro-Intelligent Design, etc).

This was a clear pandering move. The only thing Hillary and this person have in common are their sexual organs. (Though, looking at Palin's record, I wonder if she's REALLY female at all.)

McCain only met her once before deciding she was a great person to be "one heartbeat away from the presidency" (and that has never been more true). Instead of alleviating fears of his age, he just made it blow up in his face. This woman hasn't governed more than 9,000 people. You think she can handle a nation?

At least if something happens to Obama (god-forbid), then Biden is perfectly capable of stepping up to the task.

McCain, just because you pick a female VP, it won't cover your atrocious record on woman's rights. You hate Roe vs. Wade. You treat your SECOND wife like crap (seriously, google it. And yes, she's #2. Bet you didn't know that) after treating your FIRST wife like crap to marry the rich bitch. You don't think insurance companies should cover birth control AND I've yet to hear your objections to Bush's little plan to make birth control like abortion.

But, since you picked Palin, you got to be okay with that! She's against abortion - IN ALL CASES - after all.

And FYI, Biden has a son going to Iraq, too. But didn't bother using him to pander to the nutjobs.

Welcome to the Election Season.

And I'm back. :)
