"Neighbours, everybody needs…" No, we don't.

Just before dinner, had a blazing row with a neighbour over the referendum. I will not speak to her again. She and her husband are basically walking Posy Simmonds stereotypes: posh self-styled 'progressives', single-issue CND-ers. I care about the half of my family in Yorkshire; the only people she knows in England are posh SE types. I'm not going to vote for a frankly inadequate proposition, that simply offloads the key problem of governance (over-centralisation; politics and economy run by and for the benefit of the City of London) by running away from it. We should be campaigning for full federalism. Sandra thinks it's too late for that, but it isn't. It's what we need. The democratic deficit is now in the English regions, and no, that's not "someone else's problem". We need to be dismantling nation-states, not making more of them.

I'm going down Dad's after I've voted on 18th, as we're going to Italy again. I honestly don't know if I want to come back if there's a 'Yes' vote.
