It's been a very tough year personally, but also with some magical moments. It has also been the 1650th anniversary of what I only regard as 'the Dolorous Stroke' that left a Waste Land in its wake… Something which has helped me greatly through this year is John Gaskin's Traveller's Guide to Classical Philosophy, which brings out quite powerfully what was broken that tragic day so long ago. As Swinburne wrote:
"Thou hast conquered, O pale Galilean; the world has grown grey from thy breath"
But still the sun returns. We can choose to live as if they didn't win, and in so doing, deprive them of victory.
