It's snowing. Not in downtown Athens, but most of the outskirts are snowed in. In my area, there's just freezing cold. I had to go out briefly, to get meds and noms for the kittehs, and return a cage to the vet, and I couldn't feel my hands and feet after five minutes.
Of course, the rascals keep reminding me of my door(wo)man duties. OOOUT! IIIIN! *sigh* At least, my injured calico, (formerly known as Beba, now officially named Fatima) is doing much better. Her legs are awkward and not fully functional, but she can stand on her own now and take a few steps. She's making friends with little Shorty Wormbutt, who's about seven months old now, and still looks like a kitten. At one time, I think he tried to mount her, since it's *that* time for him (pre-snipsnip). It was hilarious because she's three times his size and fixed. Poor Shorty got smacked across the bathroom. And, yes, he seems set to try again.
Writing-wise: like pulling teeth. My current story is set in early 16th century Barbary Coast, and I had to research Muslim traditions from that era for every other frakking line: currency, clothing, ship types, slave trade, prostitution, talismans, curses and it goes on. It did make for a fascinating read, but it's too distracting and kills my momentum. And now I have to write a fight/mutiny scene aboard a (sort of) pirate ship. *headdesk* Can I just throw in a kraken instead to get them all killed?
