OC Drabble: Room On My Horse For Two

May 31, 2007 16:07

For famous99 on her birthday. Have a wonderful day my dear, filled with jewfros and sarcasm.

Here's your present: a little Seth-centric drabble from early season four which I wrote for you about six months ago, forgot about entirely, then rediscovered after Mel posted her marvellous Seth one-shot the other day.

I say you can't have too much of a good thing, when the good thing uses Disney fish-centric analogies for sex.

Seth lay in bed, watching as the grey light of dawn strengthened its forces and spread out across the ceiling.

He wouldn't make the first move. Not this time.

He wasn’t stupid or insensitive, even though he had grieved deeply for his friend, he knew that he hadn’t felt the loss of Marissa as keenly as Ryan or Summer. He wasn’t an idiot. But he wasn’t made of stone either. He couldn’t keep going on being the person who gave Ryan space, gave him groceries, gave him false addresses so that he wouldn’t do something beyond moronic in the name of vengeance. Always giving. Not any more.

Even with his fantastically low self-esteem making an impressive comeback this summer, he deserved better then being shut out, again. Looks of contempt like he’d received last night were bad enough from the fashionistas and frat boy wannabees of Harbor, he’d be damned if he was going to take it from Ryan too. Not after everything that had happened. Not when he’d spent weeks trying to hold things together while his own life fell to pieces around him.

He wouldn’t make the first move. Not this time.
