The Summer conversation on the beach. All of it. I think you have Summer down to a T. Funny, and warm, and trying to coax Ryan out of his shell. Her tone - the way she compliments Ryan on his looks, his humour... I sense an undercurrent of attraction there, which of course has to be sublimated because of Seth - and because you wouldn't do that - but maybe I;ve been perverted by all the good Ryan/Summer out there. I suspect I'm right though...
The walking in to the house scene - the echoes of the Pilot - very good stuff there.

A lot was to do with the Summer / Ryan interaction, which I wanted to keep on the right side of flirtatious, with a bit of underlying lust thrown in. After all, the first thing Summer says when she sees him is "Who is that?!" You always remember liking someone that way even if you don't actually like them that way anymore. If Seth hadn't have been into Summer, Ryan so would have made his move.

That would be me. I love that film beyond all reasonable measure, from the script, to the beautiful cinematography, to Thomas Newman's achingly perfect score. To the extent that when I saw your chapter heading "Road to Perdition" I immediately thought, "Newman scored that film too." Geek of geeks, I am thee.
