On Monday, I received confirmation that I can bring a pet to campus. A few hours after I checked my email and found the message, my step-mother brought me to the shelter so that I could take Gabby home. I feel so incredibly lucky to have found her. We both love snuggling, and I spent a day or two doing nothing but sitting on my bed reading so that she would get used to me and the room. She's relaxed a lot since then. The first night, she tried to curl up on my chest to sleep, and kept shoving her nose in my face for attention. It made me giggle. But, I had to shift position and she ended up curling up somewhere else (I can't remember where). The next night, she had a new trick: my pillow. She has yet to give it up. This morning I had to make her move over so that I could have space on my pillow. She turned it into a bid for food, but I checked my clock and informed her she could wait a couple of hours. So she did.
She's currently curled up on the pillow I put under my hips/lower-back at night, and looking very content. I would even go so far as to say she's happy. She greets me when I leave and come back, she asks for attention a lot, she purrs a great deal, she meows a lot, and in general seems pretty relaxed.
She's so adorable when she meows. Her face is all black, so when she meows I can see golden-yellow eyes, tiny white teeth, and her ears going back ever so slightly. It's a very cute expression.
We suit each other very well, overall. I'm not actually sure which of us chose the other, at this point, or if we chose each other at the same time. Certainly we both like this arrangement, which makes me happy and content, myself. :)
