My new Project

so i've taken up crocheting again. i started in senior year in college, but it never really took off....so it sat.
and then a few weeks ago one of the women i work with decided that we should start knitting / crocheting at lunch time. So now, on our lunch breaks, we crochet. The Camoflauge blanket i was working on is 3 skeins away from being finshed, and i've started a blanket for heath.

This is my camo blanket - draped over a chair for right now.

And this is the beginning of heath's blanket, laying over my bed for picture purposes. I'm getting much faster - that much of the blanket took me only 2 days to complete. I'm working like a mad woman on it.

and believe it or not the two blankets both have the same pattern, but because the camo one is made with varigated yarn (the yarn actually changes colors as you go along) the pattern is hard to see in pictures. Heath's blanket is made with solids, and so it is much easier to see the actual ripple pattern.

I can't wait to finish, i want to make myself oodles of these blankets, because i like keeping the heat down and snuggling up with things rather than keeping the heat turned up. I'll make one for my car (for the drive-in and other random things), one for every chair i own (so that you don't have to share if you come over), one for the bed (that one will take forever, i plan on making a friggen bed-spread), and other random things. There's something wonderful about knowing that the blankets you are using were homemade rather than store bought. you know the quality of the work, and they are more special to you that way. I love feeling like i've created something useful.
yaaaay.
