Life, man

My friend Nich flew into town yesterday from San Diego; he's here til Weds afternoon. Last night we went out for my elder roomie and his friend's birthday celebration and went to a nice Russian restaurant for drinks and appetisers first (Red Square, they had awesome pate and cheeses) and then headed to Beta where we got VIP bottle service on the catwalk lounge and got to see an awesome showing of The Crystal Method. They performed to the crowd so freaking well! As soon as it seemed the energy was slacking they would change the song and people would be screaming again. It was awesome. There was drinking of champagne and various other alcohols and dancing in these crazy heels I have - which were not meant for dancing or walking or standing for long periods of time. There are some fun phone pics on my facebook ;D

We then got invited by a guy there to go to the after party above the Diamond Cabaret (that's a strip club for non-locals) and he gave us the password. Turns out that the door would have been $15 elsewise, so hey that was cool. A girl that was performing there was amazing - she could have been a pro gymnast by some of the things that she did. She was upside down holding the pole with her knees and she dropped down the whole pole and caught herself. That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen done in a thong haha.

A funny thing is that to his other friends Nich will lie seamlessly on the phone for no purpose; today driving back from brunch he calls someone and is saying we're going to the Broncos game when we're not at all, the guy buys it. Then he tells him what we actually did last night and the guy thought he was lying. I thought that was ironic and hilarious.

Tomorrow we're going to the Avs/Flyers game - 12 rows from the ice baby! I'm psyched for that. Then on Tuesday night my friend Chris flies in from Kentucky and Wednesday I'm hosting a massive dinner party with friends as a pre-turkey day feast. So I have to make 2 turkeys, devilled eggs, baked macaroni, glazed carrots and banana pudding. Everything else seems to be taken care of by other folks, whew. Nich flies out that day so I have to find time to drive him to the airport around checking the turkeys and such. Thursday we'll spend at my friend Fariah's house where she's going to do the proper day-of foodage. Which should be wild, her house tends to be chaotic (so does ours, but in a less "jumping dog, screaming child" sort of way). Then Friday Chris heads back home and I collapse.

Until the weekend when I need to catch up on projects for finals.

I should be flying to the east coast for most of December, spending time in VA with family. My dad was trying to sell me on the idea of hanging out at his place longer - he seems to think I still weight it where I visit mom for longer, but I naturally switched to half and half quite a while ago (once he moved back from Thailand, in fact). While I'm there I've got a few different people to visit, I hope I manage to find the time.

Starting in December, I'm going to be taking art commissions. I really need to have that income, and padding my resume will be great. My friend Will (regenious for those of you familiar with ftj days) has offered to be my manager and market my work as well as field customers and set my pricing - I guess I was really low balling everything. And he's doing this just for kicks, which is even more amazing - he's working on the same for 2 of his other friends. He was joking that he might brave the cold to come have a beer with me - poor little reptilian friends haha.

Anyway, life is kind of a whirlwind of activity these days. I haven't even discussed at all being an extra in a music video, how Yerkish won their round of battle of the bands Friday, or how we're likely to have a film crew running around the house for 2 days next weekend. Whew.
