Maybe some day I will do a detailed post of what I have been up to. But for now its just my worries.
I have been applying for PhD's like a mad woman recently. I am still working for the company I started with last April but contracting through an agency part time at the moment. I have been in contact with a Professor at Royal Holloway uni who has an interesting project up - human teeth as analysis of dietary changes in the past. Am going up to see him next week. Thing is he wants me to bring copies of some of my work. Which is understandable. However I am not sure my work is going to be up to the standard he wants. Also my MSc dissertation was a bitch and a half to print off - I have it saved on my comp as Project Bastard. Means I have to try and edit it so it prints correctly... joys. Its frustrating the project is interesting, he seems interested in what I have done but I am just worried. Tomorrow I was planning on going to the swimming pool and getting some lengths done but I have a feeling I need to spend it finishing a job application (for the British Oceanographic Data Centre in Liverpool) and doing the adjustments to make the project print correctly - as well as tearing the work apart and thinking of ways I would improve it now. (Yay for UEA interview - may have realised straight away that I didn't want to go there but the interview was useful even if I didn't put all my effort in). Plus trying to read some papers on the topic the project I am going to talk about is on - though I do have experience in using isotopes as dietry indicators. I need to know my project inside out anyways for any potential interviews on my other applications.
Other than that...
I have work on Wednesday to Friday. I am hopefully seeing the Light Divided in Southampton on Thursday as my first gig of 2011. Possibly Forever Living Dead in Southampton on Sunday as well. The 29th and 30th I am heading to Nottingham and Sheffield to see Sick Puppies as well as in London on the 3rd and Southampton on the 4th. Yay for gigs keeping my mind off the freaking out over job/PhD applications.
