Misbegotten

Had a long and stressful week with work, so I was really looking forward to SG and it didn't disappoint...

Atlantis rocked!!!  Teyla flew a ship!! Yeah!  I still think they could have done more with that, but I guess I'll just be happy with what we got.  I would have liked to see her learning to fly the ship.  They just sort of jumped to oh yeah, by the way, Teyla took the ship out for a test drive and it worked.  And then when she was on the ship, they only showed her standing there concentrating on flying.  I guess what I'm trying to say is they could have played it up a bit more.  It is a big moment is it not??

As for S/T moments, there were a few.  The big smile and look of relief on Teyla's face when John radioed in and she knew he was ok...and she called him JOHN!!!  YAY!  I think I was grinning like an idiot the whole time.  See what shipping does to a person!  Dangerous I say!  Then there was the look they gave each other when they were sitting next to each other during their meeting with Weir.  And he was concerned for her after she flew the hive and asked if she was ok.  Nice subtle moments that are the J/T trademark.

Loved the whole Michael and the Wraith story.  I have a feeling we'll hear from him again...  The Wraith were all having bad hair days though.  Some had really fakey looking hair and one was even bald!  What's up with that?  Wonder if he was bald to begin with...a bald Wraith....hmmmm.  Maybe Beckett's nifty little injections have some other side effects...  Poor Wraith without their hair.  At least they'll save on conditioner now.

I was expecting Woosley to stay a bit longer also.  We only saw him question Sheppard.  I was expecting Kavanugh to show up again.  The whole scene with Weir and the team when she got back was a bit awkward, but I loved McKay's line  "Oh, is she hungry too?"  hehe.  McKay rocks!

And yet again I have to say, WHY oh WHY must they destroy the cool ships!!!  It's the Goa'uld mothership syndrome all over again...they never could manage to keep one of them in one piece in SG-1 either.

SG-1 was decent, but not quite as good as last week.  Vala was great, probably my favorite part!  The whole psych evaluation was hilarious, especially the lie detector part!  When she is trying to study for the test- "You are stranded in a hot desert and see a tourtoise lying on it's back.  You recognize it's plight, but do not stop to help. Why?"  and Vala's response "You are also a tortoise."  Maybe it's just me, but I loved that!  hehe.  Just the way she said it was so funny!  Her character has really changed from the rebel treasure hunter that she was last season.  Now she acts more eager to fit in and be part of the group...more vulnerable and willing to conform.  I liked the little backstory we got when she explained why she lied and stole and all that.  And the line about somebody finally believing in her was a nice little awww happy moment, but I liked how she became sarcastic Vala again.  Don't forget all the "loot" they are going to collect when they are off world.;-)

And now for some complaints...

First off, it's never a good sign when they bring extra SG teams along...you know they are doomed.  This time the poor expendable SG team member even predicted his own demise by asking why he had to come along.  Note to SG teams accompanying SG-1--"Well, you need to come along because somebody needs to die to show how screwed they are.  Of course, the main characters are invincible, so that's where you come in.  Have a nice day!"

Secondly, Sam was the one to discover the entrance to the caves, but then they send her to take samples back to the camp just when the action begins.  How unfair is that?  Let Sam save the day like she used to!  Admittedly the caves weren't all that exciting, but still...

And Third, what was with the lizard??  I was expecting it to stop and explain to Cam and Teal'c how they could save a bunch of money on their car insurance.  It also seemed to be mysteriously bigger when Teal'c finally caught it...hmmmmm.
