- Solstice!!! I go to sleep tonight in the knowledge that from here to June, I will be turning over to ignore the sun at an earlier time every day. :)
- Coming-of-age party for friend's daughter: Adolescent Child was mildly embarrassed, completing the coming-of-age ritual. We imparted some collective wisdom, including "Go Advil!" and "When you are in a doctor's office you a) can stop the exam at any time, and b) are under no obligation to continue or return if you are uncomfortable or feel the doctor isn't listening. That's how people ultimately come to harm from medical negligence." Child's Mother made up a journal with poems and excerpts from prominent feminists and lesbians concerning womanhood. I really like how she's handling the "my kid's growing up" thing, embracing the fact and trying to help Daughter cope with what life's going to throw at her. Much admiration.
After the party proper, we sat around, played
SET and Herd Your Horses, and drank a lot of coffee.
Highlight of my night, other than having such a good time with a number of people I don't get to see often, was seeing Child's Mother's jaw drop when I mentioned Ye Olde Groove was back in town and to what effect. It takes a lot to shock her, and I think she was surprised at my turnaround after I was bitching about it to her Tuesday.
- Making progress on cleaning my room, filing miscellaneous stuff that came upstairs when cleaning the rest of the house
- Learning about DoNG. Oh, get your mind out the gutter! It's Day of Nondenominational Giving! *snickers*
Thus endeth the happiness meme for me. I am damned grateful my life turned around in the last week, else you'd have had a week of me being happy I'm not hospitalized of a car wreck. Do tell me now what makes you smile, in this time when we so often get depressed. If you can't do that,
