Something for nothing...

I constantly watch the media looking for new ways to promote the band and sell the tracks. I watched this with immense interest to see the outcome.

Ah you're probably a little out of touch with our opinions on MP3's and downloads. I think the correct conclusion to be drawn from my original post is that if you give people a chance to get something for nothing that's what most people will do.

The band has MySpace (growing daily, only at seven hundred and something people at the moment) 4 tracks on there. We're on iTunes and just about every global download site going (loads of high quality samples there. The site is currently out of date and we're having a nice new site built by a friend (as a wedding pressie). It is looking awesome. We are keeping the old site maintenance down to a minimum until the new site comes live. This is mainly because we're working on the new album and I maintain the site. If I could find someone to keep the site updated I would. It would save me loads of time. I like the idea of moving the vid to the front of site but you'll find that the samples will stream on the next site and there will be more links to sample. BTW did you not catch the LastFM player that has the last EP on it in full, on the MP3 page?

Aha - fair enough, I was going by the out of date main site.

Agree, if offered something for nothing, that's what people will pay for it.

Then again, of those who d/l the Radiohead album, how many would actually have bought it? I didn't d/l and wouldn't buy as they're not a band I'm interested in, but often I'll d/l stuff for free to have a listen, but if I really like what I hear I'll then but albums, have acquired a fair bit of Manowar, Hammerfall, and Rhapsody that way, and have subsequently bought 5 x Hammerfall, 4 x Rhapsody, and 1 x Manowar albums. I already had the music, but liked them enough to want to actually pay for it too.
