MIRACLES HAPPEN ON HORSEBACK

Mar 18, 2007 10:34

I just signed a contract with AMAZON SHORTS for MIRACLES HAPPEN ON HORSEBACK, a short story about a truly miraculous couple. It is a "don't miss" if you are interested in a true story that is bigger than fiction. It should be up on their site by mid to late April.

Rick and Virginia Hawthorne, founders of Valley View Vaulters, are the pearls in the bucket of oysters. That is to say, I have never in my life met anyone like them. Over the past twenty seven years they have been responsible for feats thought to be impossible. Working with handicapped and non-handicapped children and young adults, members of their integrated competitive vaulting (gymnastics on moving horses)team, they are like the "Bad News Bears" of the equestrian world.

Valley View Vaulters is the only competitive team in the American Vaulting Association that has handicapped members. Through the therapeutic magic of merging of rider and horse, with lots of love and expertise thrown in, Rick and Virginia have brought a better quality of life to thousands of challenged children and young adults over the years. I personally have watched wheelchair-bound children get up and walk and a boy with less than half a brain progress from near vegetative state to walking, talking and performing on horseback.

In case I forgot to mention it, Valley View Vaulters holds many National Championships and no special considerations have been given to the handicapped members of the team. DON'T MISS THIS. I thank Amazon Shorts for the opportunity to share their story with the cyber world.
