ever wonder what is really meant by the term 'foiled'? the most obvious is aluminium foil, its unclear as to how that could 'foil' a human being. you are not a baked potato.
the foil character in literature brings out the traits as of the main character. he is the handy dandy side-kick. His point is to be a shallow blank to show off the main characters goods and bads.
the same is almost true of a comedic foil. A comedic foil is usually the straight man who brings out the stupidity and humor of the other character. I'm sorry but I don't quite see you as ever being a comedic foil.
The term 'foiled' seems like its most likely to come from the fencing sword. A foil (sword) has a blunted (foiled) tip. This makes the most sense in any use of the term.
what YOU may find most interesting is that there was a grunge band called 'Foil' in the 90s.
