But first he insisted that he wouldn't leave the van because he saw a mosquito out in the ominous dark garage.
"I'm not goin anywhere if I see a mosquito." He said, "Mosquitos remind me of spiders and I hate spiders."
I assured him that he was scared of them because of their vampire heritage.
He proceeded to tell me about several occasions where he was bitten by a mosquito and how it effected him. Then he asked, "does it bleed where mosquitoes bite you?"
"Well," I huffed, "Do you remember Stuarta?"
Stuarta is a bit of family legend. She's Stuarts twin who's grave we always visit in capecod. In the old cemetery in Eastham she has a dozen headstones for every different occasion she died, and form of death. Claire has carried on her history, quite convincingly. I doubt I will ever master her story telling technique.
"Stuarta had a mosquito bite her. That mosquito was from particularly strong vampire heritage so it had a big stinger. It sucked a lot of blood and when it let go the wound in her arm was so big she died of blood loss within the week."
He stared at his computer monitor, unresponsive. The story was either to lame to convince him, or he was terrified into silence. I would like to assume the later.
