Work... is still not horrible, and I still enjoy it usually... but has acquired a rather nasty case of 'the suck' recently.
First off:
For those of you who haven't heard about what went down last Tuesday (Jan. 13 - the last morning I posted), I'll go ahead and make note of this now. As stated in my last post, I had to be up really early in order to be ready and catch the 7:20 am bus.
My scheduled shift was 8am-4pm.
Of course, riding the bus, I got there about 20 minutes before the hour. ... 25 minutes after the hour, the store manager shows up. "Oh, I didn't realize you were on the schedule to work with me this morning." ... *eye twitch*
>< Thankfully, she was cool enough about it to allow me to go ahead and clock in at 8. You know... since I had been there and just unable to get into the store. That's the good news. The only good news for pretty much the entire day.
At about 1pm-- half an hour before I was finally going to be able to take my break-- the woman who was supposed to work the kiosk 1:30-close called in. I had been in the back working on boxing up returns to be sent out, and was made aware of the situation when the manager came into the back room swearing. She had already been turned down by all but one of our other employees, the one exception having not answered the phone call.
At 1:30 I took an hour long break and headed over to the kiosk to work from 2:30 until the rest of the day. I got a second break-- this one for half an hour-- at around 7. Closed down at 9 and headed out into the cold to get back to the side of the mall where the store is (Sears closes it's gates and thus we can't get through and have to go outside/around).
It was probably only about 9:15-20 when I was heading over there, meaning I should have had plenty of time to catch the bus (9:40ish). Heh... I was greeted with "tee hee! I haven't printed your paper yet!" and stood around for at least 10 if not 15 minutes waiting for one of the two women to count the whopping 36 dollars that was that night's cash deposit and sign a couple of papers with me.
It was 9:40 when I signed out, which meant by the time I got my stuff and got out to the bus stop there was no way the bus wouldn't have already passed. So I had to call in a favor from a friend.
Here's the kicker. For those of you about to shrug and go "Oh well... Overtime, right?" Nope. The company does overtime on a weekly basis as opposed to daily. Overtime doesn't happen unless you have worked over 40 hrs throughout the week. Which means that since she shaved off time from my Wed-Fri shifts, I'm sitting very close to 40 hrs, and thus got no overtime.
Some good news:
Kiosk is gone! Bwa ha ha! No more worrying about that, at least.
More Suck:
The main reason I got ignored for so long during closing Tuesday was because the one girl was being taught how to close. Because she's being made a store keyholder. I keep getting passed up-- despite being there longer than the others-- because I lack the past retail experience. Which, really, makes sense and I get that and everything. But this second girl...
.... Eh? I occasionally twitch at taking orders from the one, but this one being trained now, I really can't see having to view as a superior. -_- Maybe that's critical and perhaps even downright mean of me, but... I don't know. It just doesn't sit right.
Plus, there's just been some policy changes that irk me a little. Like, for example, we aren't allowed to order things for the store anymore. Because, you know, obviously we can't figure out what is or isn't selling well out of our store and thus what we would actually -need- to keep in stock. -_- I can understand that the company is wanting to keep their losses at a minimum and all but it's an annoying thought.
My hours have also already taken the freakin' swan dive of death. I'm only going to get 23hrs of working time this week. Which, it'll be awesome to have the free time and all, but bleh. *wrinkles nose*
Anyway... Ranting is at an end now. So here's the schedule I was given for this week:
