So I wasn't much into politics in high school. I knew I was pro-choice and accepted homosexuality as well as their right to marry. I think at lot of this was my mother's influence. Even when I was in middle school and went to a Methodist church I still felt the same way about these issues. Now I'm older and went to college in Orlando and experienced political activism. I was around like minded people down there and I loved it! Now I'm back in Pensacola. I decided to move back to be closer to my mom and to Stephen who may be the love of my life. I never thought I'd do such a thing for a man. I digress. Now that I've been back here for 9 months I feel like I'm in a blackhole of sorts. The few people I do socialize with between Stephen's family and friends, my co-workers and Becca, no one seems to be into politics like me. There's no Pensacola NOW, no local Planned Parenthood and everything seems to be non-partisan or conservative. It gets rather boring. I'm hoping to get involved with the Obama campaign locally and hopefully the League of Women Voters and the local Dems. Maybe I can meet liked minded people there. Hopefully I'll find the time. So, that would solve my need for liberal minds, but what about feminist minds? They don't seem to exist in this little old town. Anyone know where I may find them? Anyone involved in politics locally?
