Well, to kill time (and partly because I actually *want* such a project, shock, horror...), I'm working on a mod for the Source engine, which powers Half-Life 2. Specifically, it's a mod in the vein of Left 4 Dead, in that it's cooperative with a single-player mode. It's nothing truly original (that's a hard standard to meet), but it recombines a lot of concepts from various games I like, such as MGS4, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, Left 4 Dead, Front Mission: Gun Hazard, System Shock 2, Deus Ex... that sort of thing.
I'm not going to post much about the plot, except to say that it's based on a somewhat-plausible scenario - another American Civil War. Basically, fascists rise up, the government tries to smack them down, and the leftists - the rebels - end up having to either get in the action - or face extermination by fash or brutal indifference by the loyalist forces.
So far I'm still working on refining the concept, getting a first pass of the weapons put in, and getting the inventory and trading code working in a first pass.
